Wrong again. Pilate FOUND NO FAULT in Him. He wanted to let Him go free. The Pharisees were children of the devil and accused Jesus falsely. They were the ones who committed blasphemy, not He.

GR8: I will post that [proof that a fetus saved a mother's life] when I have time to find it. But I've already learned that it most likely won't make one whit of difference.

NPB: Very similar to what you said while stalling with your "proof" that humans aren't animals.

GR8: If you guys wanted to know the truth, you would already.

NPB: No I think more accurately If we wanted to *not care* about the truth, we would have blindly accepted the Bible as you have.

GR8: If I'm wrong, prove that when I do post it.

NPB: Or if your "proof" is completely off topic I'll point it out like I did last time.

GR8:I will post that [fetus saves mom's live article] when I have time to find it.

While you're busy looking for that *single case* folks may want to read this article from Wikipedia. It cites World Health Organization statistics showing that 1000 woman die from Maternal Death related causes every day.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maternal_death

Of course your article (assuming you can find it) may still contain truth, just not the "only truth."

Gr8fl2bHis,

Re: "...The mother's doctor... and the mother told of this to a Christian man. So if I post the article by the Christian man to whom they told this, you'll say it's not "neutral or objective". You'll refuse to believe or accept it..."

If it's an anonymous as-told-to anecdote, the "Christian man" is the only source of information. The legal term for that is "hearsay evidence".

I was looking for news coverage of the event, like the articles about the "miracle baby" who revived after several hours in a morgue.

Gr8fl2bHis,

Googling the phrase "pregnancy saves woman's life" only yields one result that seems to remotely fit the bill. It was a fifteen-year-old girl who was being sexually abused. She showed her rapist the sonogram of her unborn child, and he desisted from raping her. She later used the pregnancy to prove to her parents that the sexual abuse was going on, as her parents had believed her abuser's denials in the past.

The content of the story-- while touching and tragic-- doesn't seem to justify the title. Being saved from rape is wonderful, but that was her rapist's chosen response, just as his repeated rapes of her had been. The only hint that her life was in danger was that "something inside her" told her to deny that it was his child, because she was afraid he might do something to her in that isolated place if he knew the truth.

In that case, however, her life was saved by "The Gift of Fear" as Gavin de Becker calls it. She trusted her intuition that he might kill her-- and she was probably right. Thanks to Maury Povich, the whole country knows that genetic testing can establish paternity, and gain him a conviction on statutory rape. But her pregnancy by SOMEONE ELSE would give him further protection from suspicion, since it would label her a "slut" and lower the credibility of her charges against him.

In short, this was a brave girl who fought to save herself from a sexual predator, but since her charges were disbelieved, she was forced to use the fact of her pregnancy to both protect herself from another rape and prove that she was telling the truth. This is a heart-rending story, and I hope the girl involved goes on to have a happy life.

But her life wasn't saved by the fetus growing within her-- it was saved by her own wit and courage.

That's assuming the story is true. The YouTube segment is the only confirmation I can find of this. However, arrest reports for sexual assault don't include victim's names, and "Misty Ramshur" is probably a pseudonym. Nor does the video address whether charges WERE in fact filed.

Even if they were, we sadly live in a world where a teenage girl being raped isn't rare enough to make major news unless there's a "hook" that makes the story unique enough to be newsworthy. THAT'S the real violence against female children, not sex selection abortion.

To all,

http://shelbyknox.com/2012/03/28/young-lakota-fights-for-ec-for-native-women/

"...Thanks to the efforts of reproductive freedom advocates, emergency contraception - a pill or set of pills that can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy - is legally available to all women 17 and older over the counter without a prescription.

But for many Native American women, this right simply isn't a reality. According to a new report by Native American Women's Health Resource Center (NAWHRC), women who access health care via Indian Health Services often face barriers to getting the drug. Some are told they have to see a doctor in order to get it. Others simply find that the medication isn't in stock on their reservation.

This is especially alarming in light of the fact that 1 in 3 Native women will be raped in their lifetime. Survivors of rape and sexual assault report being turned away at IHS clinics when they go to request the drugs. Even worse, other women told NAWHRC that they were blamed and shamed for their own assault by the service provider they trusted to help them..."

Sunny Clifford, a Lakota woman, has started a petition on change.org for the Indian Health Service to make them keep supplies of ECs in stock at all clinics, and dispense it on demand, as required by law. I can't get that URL right now because the server is down. However, it's easily found by Googling.

Edit for spelling

I find all of this appalling; that the rape rate is so high, that health professionals should further abuse these poor women by such discrimination and condemnation and that they should be illegally denied drugs vital for their future welfare. It's shameful.

I agree! The IHS may be the last bastion of legal racism in America.
