Jim Ginn says:
I have the Toscanini Philharmonia 1952 Brahms symphonies-there is a great 3rd --but the audience coughing spoils the recordings--havent listened to the other works in the set. I think it was the same diseased audience that coughed for Richter's Pictures.

Sound notes, thanks. The Toscanini box has some HMV Wagner and Sibelius that I don't know about...

Just knowing 11 discs of Boris Christoff are on there way is enough-----I probably have much of it already...but I'm sure there are treasures that are worth the price.....

David M. says:
Great news about Constantin Silvestri! 15 CDs! I assume those will be the 10 CDs released by Disky in the ridiculously hard-to-find Constantin Silvestri: Collection, the concerto pieces released by Testament, plus a few new goodies. Can't wait!

Now if only Supraphon & Electrecord would release their Silvestri recordings...

Sound Notes mentions a forthcoming Toscanini Icon (EMI) box.

I'm trying to remember what AT recorded in the UK for EMI. Here is what I can think of offhand:

1. The BBC recordings of the 1930s. They were reissued in the big BMGSony Toscanini Collection box earlier this year (volume 72, a two-CD volume). Here are the contents:
Beethoven: Symphonies 1, 4, 6; Leonore Overture No 1
Mozart: Zauberflote Overture
Rossini: Scala di Seta Overture
Weber: Invitation to the Dance
Brahms: Tragic Overture
---all these were recorded 1937-1939 in the Queen's Hall and issued on 78s

2. Elgar Enigma, Debussy La Mer, and Mendelssohn Midsummer Nights' Dream Nocturne and Scherzo
(BBC Symphony Orchestra, recorded live in 1935, Queen's Hall, and not published on 78s) These are not in the big BMGSony Toscanini box.

3. Brahms symphonies, Philharmonia, ca 1952. I've seen these on Testament; don't recall if they were ever published on LP by EMI. And they're not in the BMGSony Toscanini box.

4. An Egmont Overture recorded in RCA's Studio 8-H in New York in 1939---but with the BBC Symphony! This was released on 78s by EMI (DB-5705). It's included in the big BMGSony Toscanini box on volume 45.

These might take up five or six CDs in all.

There may be additional AT/BBC material in the BMGSony Toscanini box that I've glossed over.

Does anybody recall other Toscanini/EMI recordings?

sound_notes says:
-Toscanini (BBC Recordings, I assume)

Unfortunately, no Kogan, de Burgos, Anievas, or Martzy.
