I've been to New Orleans only once, and amen to that! Didn't get to Emeril's, but K-Paul's was a high point of my short visit. Wanna go back for both the music and food.

Grey, you have serious issues if you can't understand why Julia Child is an icon in the cooking world. There's no use, obviously, trying to explain it to you. I think you just need to be insulting and contentious for the hell of it.

Kay Shepherd says:
I don't pretend to know what Julia knew about Julie or her blog. Obviously, she knew something - just don't know what. All I was pointing out was that if there was some renewed interest in Julia which resulted in higher book sales for her, or whatever, she would not have known about that, since she passed away before that could have happened and, therefore, was not treating Julie 'ingraciously' as you put it.

I see no reason for you to be so nasty over this matter. It is really getting old.

I think a few people here lost the plot. Yes the comment about Julia was ignorant to say the least. But move on. This is giving the dim far more attention than they deserve.

it is amazing what media could do for some cooks. no need to comment on the likes of robuchon, ducasse, ripert, boulud, stratta, etc....

overrated: emeril, david chang, most "cooks" i see on tv.

susur lee just might be the greatest cook in the world.
anita lo is probably the greatest female cook in the world.

I love Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) and Marissa d'Arabian, as well as Mario Batale and Bobbie Flay. But Marissa d'Arabian is probably my favorite because she's so down to earth and has such great ideas.

My top two are both gone now: Julia Child and Justin Wilson ("I gar on tee").

I'd enjoy meeting John Besh, I think.
