"A popular Ohio high school gym teacher has been sentenced to four years in jail after a judge rejected her insanity defense and convicted her on 16 counts of sexual battery for sleeping with several of her former students.

Stacy Schuler, a former gym and health teacher, had sex with five former students, some of whom were football players, at the school in suburban Cincinnati, where she taught since 2000. During her trial, which ended Thursday, Schuler's lawyers defended her actions with explanations ranging from her vegan diet, the use of the antidepressants, blackouts from alcohol and even irritable bowel syndrome, claiming it rendered her unable to determine right from wrong."-----28 Oct 2011,

Only 3% of the sexual abuse that goes on in school most is in families at home but who is counting? But you see teachers are more entertaining news.

"Many parents do not educate their child about deviant behaviors and trust."-----sentence 2 of paragraph 1, from the comment of "Lisareads" on Feb 14, 2012 1:32:15 PM PST regading the discussion topic, "How Big is the Scandal" on Amazon.com

=========================================================

.

.

(1) You raise an excellent moral "Lisareads" because there seems to be an abundance of Deviants in the public school system, holding postions of trust.

.

.
(2) Clearly, the situation calls for better home education, and less public education.

Thanks for sharing your insight.

.

Perhaps one indication as to why teachers lack an awareness of Moral Propriety and Job Ethics, can be found in the public communications of some advocates of the New Atheist worldview.

For example, New Atheist advocate and Amazon forum member Brian Curtis writes as follows:

.

.

==========================================

"Where was all this rampant sex and corruption when I was in school?
Man, I missed out on EVERYTHING."---------sentences 1 & 2 of paragraph 2, from the comment of Brian Curtis on Dec 14, 2011 12:24:32 PM PST regarding
the discussion topic, "Growing Sex Scandal In Public Schools" on http://Amazon.com

============================================

.

.

It might occur to an objective thinker, that this reflects a lack of Moral Awareness in the thinking of the advocates of New Atheism.

.
In this regard, would it be reasonable to conclude that public school teachers are to be trusted
as much as say, a sexual offendor in a State Prison?

How big is the Sex Scandal in the Public Schools?

Wheres the blame that should be placed on high school students who engage in thes sexual acts with teachers.
I graduated from high school in 2006 and think that not all blame can be placed on teachers in speicific cases. Don't get me wrong there are predators in our school system and everywhere else for that matter but can you really place all the blame when i a 17 year old makes the choice to sleep with a teacher.
I knew the rules when i was a child and i beleive that if you choose to hook up with a teacher it isnt just there falut... it takes two to tango.
I've seen students in my high school hit on teachers and flirt with them in ways that cross the line. Parents have just as much responsability in keep their children from commiting this acts. Where are the parents in all these cases... where were there childern when these acts happened ... do parents just forget to parent?
Rasie you childern in a envorment that they must take responsiblity for there actions ... remember im not talking about when a young child is raped or a girl im middle school is molested but when a adult childen makes the conscious descision to engage in a sexual act with someone whos older and in a position of power.
Whats the difference between a 17 year old sleeping with a 31 year old teacher and a 18 year old sleeping with a 40 year old cause they have money? Weres the line ..... has it been erased by hollywoods ideals of young persons dateing and marrying people that could be there parent.... demi moore anyone? what about the hogans?

The parents of course. They did not teach their children not to be so naive. But then they have invited marketing and TV into the home.

"I graduated from high school in 2006 and think that not all blame can be placed on teachers in speicific cases. Don't get me wrong there are predators in our school system"----------from sentences 2 & 3 of paragraph 1, from the comment of Ray Selman on Mar 8, 2012 8:03:54 AM PST
regarding the discussion topic "How Big Is The Scandal?" on Amazon.com

=================================================
.

.

(1) At issue, is not what one thinks, but the facts.

(2) Unless you have legal evidence, which demonstrates that Public School Teachers, Principals, and Coaches are not legally liable for their behavior, then you have no argument here whatsoever.

.

.
(3) Concerning the law, What --One-- Thinks is not determinative.

.

.

ISSUE THE SECOND

===============================================

"Parents have just as much responsability in keep their children from commiting this acts.
Where are the parents in all these cases... where were there childern when these acts happened ... do parents just forget to parent?"---sentences 2 & 3 of paragraph 2, from the from the comment of Ray Selman on Mar 8, 2012 8:03:54 AM PST
regarding the discussion topic "How Big Is The Scandal?" on Amazon.com

==============================================

.

.

(1) First of all, you have failed to provide legal evidence which support your assertion that the Parents of Students in Public Schools are RESPONSIBLE for the unlawful behavior of the Teachers, Principals and Coaches.

.

.

(2) So in this regard, your thinking is nothing more than the common logical error of the Fallacy of the Ipse Dixit ("The---Bare---Assertion---Fallacy").

.

.

(3) As for your inquiry, which asks; "Where are the parents in all these cases..etc."

That has to be one of the most naive inquiries I have ever read in public media.

The issue is not that you cannot ask the question.
The issue is that it doesn't mean anything in a court of law.

You do understand that you are discussing Law?

I would hope so.

.

.

.
(4) What your argument really communicates, is that Public School Teachers, Principals and Coaches, cannot be accountable to obey the laws of their states.

What justification therefore, can you offer which qualifies such persons as "teachers" or "principals" or "coaches" seeing that by your arguments, these individuals are are not to be held fully accountable for their behavior?

What does that argument come from? Because the laws of the several states do seem to be at variance with your opionion on the matter.

"Sex Abuse by Teachers Said Worse Than Catholic Church" (100 times)
Jon E. Dougherty, Newsmax
Monday, Apr. 05, 2004 -----read more @: http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2004/4/5/01552.shtml

.

.

This issue, and the reluctance to address it on the part of the American People, seems akin to the Sexual Predation which occurs on the Internet, where adults are eager to prey upon young teens.

Thus, in their thinking, people come up with somes very strange conclusions as an excuse for the behavior of the Teachers, Principals, and the Coaches.

For example, people come up with the idea that the students are flaunting their sexuality.

Well, I'll grant that students flaunt their sexuality. That is hardly new. What is new is the thinking of the public which presumes that the sexuality of the students is what controls the behavior of the adults.

So since when is the behavior of the Adults equivalent to the irresponsible behavior of horomonally driven students?

By what logic therefore, are Teachers, Principals, and Coaches placed in positions of Trust and Responsibility to begin with? If Teachers, Principals and Coaches are unable to be in control of their own minds and bodies by Logic, then upon what justification are they in positions of RESPONSIBILITY to begin with?

.

But as deplorable as the Logic is, which presumes that the Students are in control of Teachers, Coaches and Principals by means of their Sexuality, that Logic still fails to show how Adult Teachers, Principals and Coaches are justified in sexual predation upon their charges in the Elementary Grades.

.

.

If the argument is that the Students are flaunting their sexuality, and that the Teachers, Principals and Coaches are unable to demonstrate an Adult Control of their own behavior, upon what premise are American Children sent off to Public Schools to be under the Supervision of Adult Teachers, Principals, and Coaches, as persons in a "position of trust"?

There is far more abuse going on in schools. The situations that become "reported" and/or "news worthy" are due to system "leaks".
