What would you say is the worst horror film you've ever seen, just so I know what to avoid?

"Sucker: The Vampire" from Troma video. It's about a vampire slayer that intentionally gives a vampire AIDS. Then the vampire's lacky who disposes of all the vampire's blood sucked victims who also has a pention for dressing the dead bodies up in lingerie and having sex with them contracts AIDS too. Also, it looks like my five-year niece shot this movie.

"Killer Nerd" is by far the worst movie ever made.

Karl Jenkins says:
The ABC television remake of "The Shining." It is a pure abortion of a movie, doing a disservice to both the source material (Stephen King's novel) and the Stanley Kubrick film, which are both fine examples of modern horror at it's best.
Not sure if you were only referring to theatrical releases, but since this is on Amazon and you might stumble across the DVD here, I figured it should count.
A close runner-up is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation from 1994. You might be tempted as it stars Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey (before either had made it big, obviously), but this is completely, utterly unwatchable. Don't waste your time.

depenchejunky, whenever I see that a movie's been made by Troma, I KNOW that I need to avoid it.

My nominee is the recent "Dead Silence," mostly because it was such a disappointment coming from director James Wan, who made the original "Saw," which I found surprisingly good. This sophomore effort was an utter disaster...making me think that "Saw" was this director's version of beginner's luck. "Dead Silence" is truly god-awful and just plain stupid--what a waste of money, talent and my time.

Yeah, unfortunatley I learned that the hard way.

Troma's put out a lot of crap, but at least it's mostly *watchable* crap. In my book, a film is a complete failure only if it completely fails to entertain. With that in mind, I nominate HOWLING: NEW MOON RISING, the dullest waste of time ever transferred to celluloid.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that shame and working for Troma video go hand in hand.

The ones that Troma make are pretty bad, but the ones they distribute, Combat Shock and Blood Sucking Freaks for instance, are pretty good.

I just bought BLOOD SUCKING FREAKS not to long ago. I can appreciate there sence of humor, but I totaly understand people(especially women) being offended by that movie.

depechejunky says:
James: Why, what happens in that movie that would especially offend women?

M. says:
For one, Sardu (the lead character from Blood Sucking Freaks) uses women as his dinner table, uses them as dartboards and I think I remember a comment about one of the young ladies mouth making "a fine urinal".

depechejunky says:
What's wrong with the people who wrote that movie??? Either they have some major issues with women or they are trying to be as offensive as possible. It's not healthy to watch material like that especially for young men whose opinions of women are still being shaped. There is alot of sexualized violence towards women, especially in horror movies.

Let's just say that it's degrating to women, but not in a serious way. It has a very irreverant sence of humor to it. I bought it because it was listed in my goriest movie thread, plus it was a TROMA movie. needless to say, I'm trading it in!!

It's got a real comedic vibe to it and yes, it was meant to shock and offend.

Isn't the director Uwe Boll synonymous with horrible filmmaking? I've never seen any of his movies but I just read reviews on his new film postal and WOW...this guy REALLY sounds like a piece of **** director.
