I'd like to share some info about a novel I've written. I understand it isn't appropriate to advertise it, so I won't put a link or description. I'm interested in a dialogue with authors and readers.

This book started out as a dare to create an opening sentence of the worst of all possible novels - a la the Bulwer-Lytton contest - and turn it into a riveting story.

To make the dare more interesting, the writing was shared between two of us. I would write a sentence and Terry Boothman, hilarious author of the Writer's Software Companion, would respond. The results was somewhat similar to tying two cats together and throwing them out in the rain.

Comments, questions, offers of gratuitious carnal pleasure, death threats?

I didn't know there was such a policy. Seems a little strange that authors can't participate in the forum about books!? And what's the point of an author participating if they can't discuss their works? I'm sorry.

you can discuss them not sell them

the moa forum at the bottom of the page is the only place they alow you to hype your own book

Thank you. That was really helpful. So, I'm not quite sure where I crossed the line. Was it the link to the book? As you can see, when one writes a comment, the form includes an Insert a product link button, so I assumed it was ok to post a link to a product. Maybe just not my own??

Or was it the fact that I included the teaser about the book??

I think the collaborative concept for the book - which I described in the first paragraphs - is really interesting and might be of interest to authors and readers alike.

So, I'm not sure how to initiate a discussion without "promoting" the book. I do appreciate your help with this. Thanks, again. I'm interested in a dialogue with authors and readers.

I changed my post. I don't seem to be able to change the title of the thread. I hope this feels better.
