In her writings, author Louise Erdrich shares a universal question she's asked herself and others since she was aged nine: "What book would you take to a desert island?"
I'd have to answer WUTHERING HEIGHTS by Emily Bronte. A close second is EAT PRAY LOVE by Elizabeth Gilbert. WUTHERING HEIGHTS has been a favorite book since I first read it as a teen; EAT PRAY LOVE, on the other hand, inspired me to found an on-line bookclub. I choose these books despite the fact that a more practical answer would be a survival-skills book.
That said, what book would YOU take to a desert island?
