The only way I can see that happening is with regards to maybe screwy HTML formatting, especially between devices.

i.e. I recently found an error that was fine in MS Word and fine on the Iphone Kindle app, but for some reason was showing up a little weird on the e-ink Kindle itself: One instance of Street was showing up as S Treet with an obvious space. Even then, that's really not a spelling mistake like say THE into TEH.

If you use symbols, kindle will screw them up. Maybe it screws them up differently when you use look inside rather than downloading a free sample.

Amazon's system is designed so we can influence the problems with indie books ourselves. Use the review system. Reward good writing with at least a 3 rating and mention the good grammar. Discourage unprofessional grammar and spelling with a quick 1-2 rating and a simple "bad grammar" or "severe homophone mistakes". Most of these problems will tend to show themselves in the "view a sample" feature, so we can often save ourselves the 0.99+ and the trouble of erasing by checking the sample first. Writers who can't bother to hit a spell-check button are like doctors who can't bother to wash their hands. Lack of sales will discourage them out of the system. Eventually, Amazon will have to develop some policy to clear out the garbage to make space for writers who sell, rather than pay for junk to take up space in the servers. - - Pat Buehler
