In case others are interested:

LibriVox.org offers free public domain audio books, read by volunteers.

iTunes offers some LibriVox.org audio books, too.

Yes, and any of you who are interested, you can volunteer to record for Librivox. You start small, maybe recording a short story or poem for a collection or a chapter or so of a book in progress. Then, if you enjoy it, you can choose to do a solo book. It is a LOT of fun as well as being helpful to others. I have completed 3 novels and am working on my fourth right now. Give it a try!

There also are book podcasts on iTunes that are free and professional-quality. So far, the ones I like best are ITV's (British TV) Jane Austen podcasts.

I appreciate the volunteer work that goes into LibriVox, which must be a blessing for those who can't read visually, for instance. I use few of the LibriVox audio books, though, because I'm picky about voices. (For instance, I don't want to hear me reading a book, lol.)

you can also get them for free at http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Gutenberg:The_Audio_Books_Project in either human or computer generated voice.
