If you have a Kindle, you can find your e-mail address two different ways. One is to click Menu, Settings, then find the e-mail section (I can't remember what it's called right now) on your Kindle, or go to, click on Manage Your devices, then look at the Kindle information. The Kindle e-mail is for sending personal docs to your Kindle, which include documents that are converted for you into a Kindle-compatible format. If you want to sent it via wi-fi, you just have to put the word "free" in front of the address, i.e., becomes

You can see the email address on your Kindle - press Menu --> Settings --> page 2 of the Settings menu.

You can use it only to send documents to the Kindle, not for sending or receiving emails. Read all about it in the user guide on the Kindle.

What if I have only a Kindle App on my Android phone? I can't figure out what my 'kindle' email address is to send the attachment to. ? I pull up the devices registered to my Amazon account & it lists my phone, but no email address is listed. ??

Usually the address is and

You can send documents that are several different formats...pdf, rtf, jpeg etc...

I send documents that I would normally have to be at a computer to view or that take forever to load and view on my phone. Documents like my son's school lunch menu for the month (handy at the grocery store), times tables (for on the go), son's class schedule, recipes, newsletters, work related documents etc...

I'm sorry Grace. I was replying to the OP's post.

You will only have a kindle e-mail address if you have the actual Kindle. It does not work with the app.

Hello Artist. Thank you for your post - I have the same problem as Jeanine. However, when I go to Menu, Settings, My Account, Manage E-Mail settings etc. all I get is a link to my personal email account with NTL. There is no address listed. Do you - or anyone else - have any suggestions about why this might be? Thank you.

This conversion method doesn't work for Kindle apps such as Kindle for PC, Kindle for Android, Kindle for iPhone/iPad/iPod, etc. This is because there are native application for these platforms that support document formats in question and they should be used to access these documents.

I purchased three books and now "it" says I have to set up an Kindle email address to download my books to??? Whatever happened to buying a book and it downloads to your Kindle Reader automatically????? I just do not understand why everything has to be so complicated now. Bah Humbug!

Did you purchase these books from somewhere other than Amazon?

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 16, 2014, 3:10:14 PM PDT
Great post Doctor. If you find out, sure would like to hear about it... I have searched EVERYWHERE, but it will probably take 4 ever to find a decent website to go to... I know it was given to me somewhere as I try and try to get my books delivered to my Kindle... what a concept, huh?
