My Kindle will not send e-mails. Why?

dfn.ninja says:
Maybe you got an unsociable unit.

Are you connected to the internet? Are you using the default Kindle email app? Which email host are you using -- gmail, yahoo, webmail, etc.?

T. Cook says:
The error message usually tells you why.
Otherwise, it's because you entered the wrong settings, either the wrong outgoing server, wrong port or wrong user name/password.

Also to add to this are you sure you have right settings for the email in question? Of course like dfn.ninja stated maybe the unit is unsociable....

I have double and triple checked all the settings. It all looks okay for my e-mail program connected to Cox.net. Incoming mail is working fine.

Here are the settings I use for Cox.

SMTP server: smtp.east.cox.net
Security: SSL (always)
Port: 465
Require Sign-in: checked
Username example: chuck (do not put anything after user name like @cox.net)
Password: whatever password is.

Good luck with this. I am using the K-9 mail app and it works perfect. I don't have a Fire.
