Please share the freebie gems you have found. I just discovered Fawlty Towers is free for Prime members . Found it quite by accident. If you've not heard of it, check it out. Its hilarious. Every Brit has seen it, but i find that many americans have never heard of it and its fantastic.

Another favorite BritCom is Vicar of Dibley. Prime doesn't have full seasons, but they have a handful of episodes.

I *just* Watchlisted that last night while searching Prime vids for suggestions!

Here are two gems I recently watched:

Five Minutes of Heaven -- starring Liam Neeson and James Nesbitt. Stellar performance by both Neeson and especially Nesbitt, dealing with their characters' coming to terms with events which took place during the '70's era turmoil involving The Troubles of Northern Ireland.

The 1956 film The Bad Seed (1956) -- Loved rewatching this classic "evil child" thriller again.

Thanks, Amazon.

As Time Goes By...Love this show. We own Faulty Towers on DVD. The German's is our favorite episode.

Wives and Daughters. I had never read it or seen it. The actor who plays Squire Hamley is amazing.

Winter's Bone. This is just a great movie. Dark, but very good.

Ballykissangel! I didn't even know they had it! OMG. Happy dance.

ETA: ATGB is a good one. So understated, but so good.

I would love for them to get Monarch of the Glen. So good.

Doc Martin. Also hysterical.

I would love to see "The Brittas Empire" again. Geez that show was a hoot. I like "A Fine Romance" too, and "Chef."

We love our Britcoms here in Ohio. I wish our PBS channel would run "A Thin Blue Line" again. Rowan Atkinson is a genius.

Never heard of that one. I put it on my watchlist.

He totally is. Blackadder is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. "Baldrick!"

British shows have a much different "feel" than American tv. I know they spend more time in rehearsal and working on the script. "As Time Goes By" was just so good, there were rarely rough spots. Every line seemed to fit, but was also purposeful. Way fewer throw-a-way lines, and NO smart alec little kids to have to listen to. Intelligent humor.

We miss some stuff because of regional jokes, but not enough to make it unbearable. Another we love is "One Foot in the Grave." Such dark humor, but perfectly done. "Keeping Mum" fell in that category, but didn't last long. I expect the subject line was too dark for some.

The Forsyte Saga. Anyone who watches Homeland needs to see Damian Lewis, who plays Brody, as Soames Forsyte.

I just discovered "Midsomer Murders" which is why I got the prime account to begin with. Netflix was only offering them on DVD.

It is fantastic!
