I have prime and a Samsung tablet and smart phone. If I buy a kindle, will I be able to read the free kindle books (for prime) on any of my devices or just the kindle?

Just the Kindle.

Bummer!

Well, they do call it the Kindle Owners Lending Library for a reason. ;)

And you're aware that you only get one book per month with Prime, right? A lot of people miss that.

Thanks. I'll stick with my Galaxy Tab 8.9 for now.

You have to realize that Amazon has to pay a fee for every book that people borrow from the KOLL. If you want to get more books, you should just purchase them. Then you can read them on any device you have at any time you want.

Why? I'd like to understand your thinking on this.

Prime is a program that gives you free 2 day shipping on eligible products from Amazon. The Kindle Owner's Lending Library is just an additional perk (which Amazon pays for out of their own pocket). You really need to read about what Amazon Prime is before signing up and spending $79. If all you want are free books, get a library card.

King Al says:
No, you shouldn't. Amazon has to pay the publisher for each book you borrow.

Oh goody. Another person who feels entitled. Why do you want to read books when you can't even bother to read that Prime is a SHIPPING program and not a library?

BooDittie says:
You can reqd as many books asyou want. They just won't be free to borrow after the first one per calendar month.

Would you? I wouldn't. You're a better person than I am. :0)

Southernbelle, the question was about books from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library. Those can only be read on actual Kindle devices.

Edited for responding to a year old thread. Yikes!

One year later and the answer hasn't changed. It is called the Kindle Owners Lending Library..... for ..... kindle owners that have prime. So if you have a kindle you can read a KOLL book on that device only,

KessaJo says:
No, you have to use your Kindle. What part of Kindle Owner's Lending Library do you not understand?

Go back & read the TOS for Prime in regards to the KOLL.

It's amazing how many people don't bother to read the earlier posts in the thread...

I think you could have just said "It's amazing how many people don't bother to read."

KessaJo says:
Yes, there is that.

KessaJo says:
There's that, too. And it seems to me that a lot of the complaints about the KOLL come from people who don't read - boggles my mind. LOL!
