I do hope all our regular posters, occasional posters, and lurkers are enjoying their day. Welcome to any new Kindlers that may be joining us. Make sure you read post #2 for a special welcome just for you.

MerryInTexas offered us the opportunity to play Secret Santa today, along with Elves Ribbon, Sugarplummed Suze and Lover of Blitzen. I am looking forward to hearing about what you received, who gifted you,(if you know) who you gifted, (if you'd like to share) and how your day is going.

I know lots of folks have their day filled with family visits and holiday celebrations. So post when you get a chance. I'll pop in every hour or so and see who's doing what. If there are others like us, where your kids are at in-laws, too far away to get to, or your mother/sister/brother has decided to go across the country and you want a friendly place to be, come on and join me here. We'll do our visiting in the virtual world with no need to worry about saying something to trigger the next round in the family war. (hehe) We can even wear our PJ's and no one will mind or even know, if you don't tell. I look forward to spending time with you.

My greatest wish for each and everyone reading this is that when this day ends you will have wonderful memories and a heart filled with love.
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to be where people can see
Our troubles are all the same
You want to go where everybody knows your name

Aint it great we have someplace to go

Since some folks may be getting a Kindle for the very first time and find us, I thought I'd take today to welcome all new comers. We are so glad you found us. We consider ourselves Book Acquisition Specialist. Others may refer to us as hoarders, but we wear the title proudly and refuse to enter any type of therapy to stop our shameless collecting of Free Books. We will also encourage and enable you to join in fattening your Kindle with all the free books to be found.

We gather in a new thread everyday to chat about our lives and share the free books we have found. Once you've found us all you have to do is go to the end of each day's thread to find the new day's link, so you will never miss a day. Please feel free to post about those things you find interesting, respond to what others are saying, and share the free books you may have found. We are a very friendly group, while some good natured teasing may happen, we are not "snarky" and will answer any questions you may have. All you need to do is ask, someone (or many someones) will answer you politely. We've all been new. Do keep in mind we are a very curious bunch and will probably ask you all about your pets, the weather where you are, your hobbies, and for your secret family recipes. You may answer or just ignore the question, your choice, no one will be offended.

Now about those Free Books. I have listed the three most popular websites in the above post. Just put them in your browser and you can see the list of free books everyday. The titles and number of books change daily, so most check everyday. Each website is a bit different, so check to see if you like one over the other. On all the websites though, you right click on the title, open in new tab, it will link back to the book's Amazon page, and you can then one-click to "buy". (Always check to make sure it's still free. There will be $0.00 beside Kindle price. Sometimes there is a change after the list is out.) When we find books that interest us we post them on this thread. They will appear in blue within our post. You can click on those titles to link to the book's Amazon page and "buy" from there. If you have any questions, just let us know. I'll be around on and off throughout the day.

We look forward to welcoming and getting to know new friends and new "Kindlers". Have a wonderful day.

My Secret Santa has been very generous this year. Three box sets, so it seems like so much more than three books. But, Santa didn't share their non-North Pole name with me. Thank you very much.

@Secret Santa I have been a good girl, that's why the reindeer spoke to you about me. Right?? I'm glad I could bring some laughter and joy to your days. This group has been such a blessing to me.

It just turned 3 AM here, so I'm up late. Having a little trouble getting a full nights rest lately. I had pushed my knee to it's limit before my "almost" tumble on the stairs, now it is very angry with me and keeping me from sleep. I will have to stay off it and keep it braced and give it a chance to heal.

Merry Christmas to you, Lyn, and Bailey.

Merry Christmas! It's now officially Christmas Day on the west coast. Oooooo, Santa will be here soon so I need to get to bed so he doesn't skip our house.

It's been a busy day prepping for dinner tomorrow and I am exhausted. The good thing about your kids getting older is the ability to sleep in beyond 6am on Christmas morning. I'm hoping for a good nights rest.

I hope your knee heals quickly Zoo. Maybe after the holidays you'll be able to give it the TLC it needs. I hope you have a great day tomorrow Zoo. I'm sure your son is excited. I'll check in tomorrow...

Robb, I hope you and Lyn have a wonderful Christmas as well.

Take care everyone. ;-)

To all my unseen, but very wonderful friends here, I can now "officially" wish you a very Merry Christmas~!!
I feel truly blessed to "know" each and every one of you and hope that you have a fun filled day sprinkled with a bit of magic and lots of love. I would never in my wildest dreams have thought when I first poked my head into this forum, that I would have found such a group of caring people from all over the globe. You all contribute so much to my life... from the funny... to the thoughtful... to the ones who always have a link to share... and to the many that offer solutions to whatever problem or question another may ask. May you all receive the karma due and be blessed. :)

@SDR Marla, Thank you for NOT FREE Christmas Wishes NOT FREE. So unexpected, and I might not have found it if you hadn't given me the heads up. So looking forward to some quiet time later to enjoy reading again.

Repeated from last night's late posting, to be sure you see it. Must go to bed now, so still being good & haven't opened Secret Santa emails. Will be back much later to update. Enjoying what books everyone has been getting the last several days, as many I haven't heard of but sound so good. Another great way to find new authors & series.

I know who my Secret Santa is!! <Jumping up and down, upsetting the cats> Finding that out was more exciting to me than the books, the books are nice, don't get me wrong, but ...
Let me tell you how ornery and tormenting she is. (I'm positive she's a cat, she has to know I am.)

Sunday at 9 pm a Secret Santa email arrived. I ignored it. Monday at 4:45 am another one came. I was very good. Monday at 5:41 am, there's another one. Oh my, the temptation was so great early Monday morning. Then I had things to do, so I was okay. Until Monday evening - I so wanted to open them. But I waited until 1:30 am Christmas. Yeah, me.

I was so excited to find out who my Secret Santa was. I opened the first one. It contained a nice note telling me how they had enjoyed my stories. But, no name. On to number 2. That one asked if I'd been good. Well, sort of, but I hadn't opened early, that should count for something. No name. Well, how am I going to thank this person? I know, number 3 will tell. Off I go. The message tells me "the dogs, eh, reindeer said..." Again, no name. Now, in hindsight there was a clue there. But, alas, the blonde hair was proving too strong. So I thank my Santa, still hoping they will reveal themselves in the thread. (or I can pay off MerryInTexas' cats to tell)

Well, today at 3:36 am another Secret Santa email arrived. WHAT? My Santa is very mischievous. Now she tells me how much fun SHE has had doing this. And included some very complimentary words for me. Have YOU figured it out yet??

Dogs and Turtle, Helen, you are such a joy!!! When you first joined us you told us you were shy. Well, you have proven to be a very wonderful part of our virtual family. I'm so glad you joined us. I just cannot express how thankful I am for you. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you in the new year. Thank you for your generosity.

@ Elf Keeper that is a wonderful start and a lovely welcome to newcomers. I remember when I first started lurking. I was so afraid that if I said something that someone didn't agree with the snark posse would descend as I had seen them do to others on other threads. What I have enjoyed beyond the Free Books is the recommendations, the little peak into others' lives, a place to ask and a place to help. And of course the Free Book Links.

To all of you lurkers, don't be afraid, put a toe in the water. You might get the occasional anonymous DV Fairy but we ignore them.

so let me add to the above.

Yellow Banner refers to the yellow band that appears at the top of Book Description page when you have purchased the book.

To make the links for Free Books. 1. Click on the Insert a product link box on the upper left hand corner of the comment box. 2. On the left hand box click the Kindle Store. 3. On the right hand box you can put title, author or the asin number of the book, which can be found on the address line it starts with a B and is 10 places long. 4. click the select button next to your choice. 5. It will automatically appear at the place of your cursor in the comment box.

When you give links if you can please let us know if it is a yellow banner, and it's genre if possible. Also a statement if it is religious or highly explicit would go a long way. However, if you don't have enough time, don't worry about it too much.

If you have read one of the free books a heads up as to whether you liked it or hated it or if it was just blah would be welcome. Just a read it loved it, read it and couldn't finish it type of statement is fine.

There is a list of acronyms floating around but I can't find my copy. Things like DH = darling husband, GS=grandson, ETA edited to add....there are many more if someone else could locate their copy?

So dear lurker may I also welcome you.

Merry Christmas to all.
