Had the same issue, my wife has had her kindle since Christmas and has never mistreated it, no accidents, usb port looks good. Holding the power button down for 30 seconds rebooted the kindle but it still wouldn't charge on two different chargers. Amazon was very helpful in replacing it, we have a new one arriving in two days with free shipping.

I also have to hold the cord in a certain position for it to charge. I don't know if it's the cord or the jack. But if I put a little tension up from the jack it charges fine. It's just, a a pain right now. I hope they come up with an easy and free fix for this problem

My kindle fire is showing its charging with the orange light on power button but it is showing red light on screen indicator it is also stuck at 3% charge

I received my kindle fire as a xmas gift - it was not purchased through Amazon. Can you still work through them to get a replacement?

Yes you can. My husband bought mine at Target. I called Amazon and told them the problem I am having about it not charging and they are sending me a replacement device as well.

Call Amazon and tell them about the problem you are having. They will repalce it for you.

I had this problem as well and was able to fix it by holding the power button down for about 20 seconds and then turning it back on. It worked fine after that.

I purchased 4 of them in the last two months for me and the grand babies. Two of the 4 are having the same problems. But not everytime. How long I wonder will they NOT replace them. It feels like the adapter is really loose on one of them and not as loose on the other one.

I too have been having this problem...but I have done the reset and it is still doing the same thing. I plug it in and the orange light comes on indicating a charge but my battery meter doesn't I did the hard reset and it is still doing the same thing. My kindle is 4 months old and now i am going to have to send it in so they can send me a junk pos refurbished NOT happy! I paid for a NEW one and I am going to get an OLD one for my replacement...I really don't appreciate technology these days and I am thinking that Kindle messed up on this whole battery charging thing...I was warned and now I am regretting it. I think that I am going to just send it back and get a Nook instead...if anyone can give me ANY advice BEFORE I exchange my NEW kindle for an OLD one, I would appreciate it a lot. :/ Thank You

I was told not to buy it because they are having issues with the batteries not working right but I ignored the reviews and hoop-la and now I am over $300 out and wishing I had listened...I am going to get a Nook instead thats for sure!!!!

Check out this post before giving up.

It looks like all the tablets have the same issue, so switching to something else won't help.
