I stopped reading Stephen King a long time ago, too, (though I really loved his earliest works) but I was too tempted by 11/22/63. It was a little uneven, but overall quite good - the last bit had me on the edge of my seat.

Here is what we have selected for CROAH (Chronological Read of American History) which is reading bios of the Presidents by order of term served. Most have been very good. (I've not found a TJ bio that pleases me though. He apparently was really hard to pin down.)

We are just starting the Grant bio.

Here is the group - www.shelfari.com/groups/34700/about

I have some others that I liked as well. (I'm meandering through the colonial/revolutionary/ and early period in more detail. I'll go build a list of those that were of the Presidents and get back to you.)

I know. I finally decided I wanted it yesterday, only to have missed it. That's what I get for procrastinating. :-(

That was truly amazing! I now have the DTB hardback, the Kindle version, and the audible.com version! I really love Chernow. If you haven't yet read his Alexander Hamilton , I strongly recommend it.

The only reason I picked up the newest Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power was because (on that day) the K version and associated linked audible versions were so incredibly priced. (I really REALLY hated Meacham's American Lion and it was (and remains) the only audible book I have ever severely rated - even wrote to audible about how awful the "narrator" was.) However, the TJ book got some good "official" reviews and these discounted prices couldn't be beat. We'll see if Meacham remains a feel-good psychological-biographer or if (I think) he has written something of merit.

It was the first King title that has interested me in a very very long time. (I stopped liking his books after the Bachman fiasco. They all seemed to be less-interesting to me for some reason.) I still haven't read 11/22/63 but ...

Sorry for the thread diversion jp7395!

I picked up 11/22/63 earlier in the week, but haven't pulled the trigger on the audio book yet. This will be my first SK is nearly 25 years, so I'm wading in slowing.

The most obvious ones (for me) were Odd Thomas: An Odd Thomas Novel and Under the Dome: A Novel

The discounts on the audible versions were incredible and kept me from using my member credits.

While on audible, I (of course) ended up going ahead and using a credit for 11-22-63: A Novel (Note: I already have this in both DTB AND Kindle but, did that stop me from getting the audible version too? Oh nooooo.)

Wait. New deals? Where?

(Because I need more books and audio books like I need another hole in my head.)

Update (because I know you are all SO curious about my "plan")

It does not help in reducing spending when 1) Amazon offers such terrific deals on Kindle books, 2) those are accompanied by a !@#$%^ reduced price (SIGNIFICANT reductions!) on sync'd audible.com books, and 3) the reduced price thread alerts me to these deals!

Already bought a bunch today. This means, of course, that my, er, um, resolution to hold off on buying yet another eInk device is, um, er, wavering.

Yours, TSTL,

DL

I use it in landscape mode and find resting my thumb on the edge of the bezel allows me to use the exact same movement as pushing the button on the kk.

I do think the Amz case for this model is almost a necessity.
