Dude, what I said is completely factual and accurate.

I base my expectations upon the real world, not how I wish things were.

Joe, Amazon doesn't have to be heavy-handed with developers. Developers have plenty of incentive to support newer devices -- that is where the bulk of their sales will come from. There are plenty of Android 4+ devices out there, including the new KF's. App developers will fill the need, but software development takes time.

Well, excuse me, but that is what an app maker told me, so that is what I am going by, not by some stranger that thinks all things are the same.

Why would a company be asking Amazon if their product was compatible with the Fire HD? That makes no sense at all. The company would (or should) know that themselves without having to ask Amazon.

But Amazon doesn't work like that. The developers have to ask if they can put their apps on, then Amazon looks at a certain number of them & decides which ones to add.

The developers do not work for Amazon. They are independently run.

If Amazon stopped selling one developer & then another & so on, just because they can't work to develop apps that will work with the new Kindles (that they do not know how they work before they are marketed - since they don't work for Amazon), soon Amazon would be stuck accepting only junk apps that do not meet the necessary requirements that Amazon sets for apps.

Hey you should really think more before posting. Amazon owns the store, Amazon can tell developers do this or do that or ill stop selling your product in MY store. Big Box chain stores do this on a daily basis.

Joe Anderson says:
Id think your very wrong, as the store is owned by Amazon and they can decide what they sell at there store. If the developer does do thingscthe store owner request the store can stop selling their product.

Lol I do not agree with your thinking at all, i buy nearly every 'new device' that comes out and have never complained the way you are. This issue i assumed was different because 4developer apps emailed me bsck n said 'Our apps r available on ALL platforms according to Amazon Store'.

Have you cleaned you gutters lately? Maybe Saintly's neighbor should be required to do that, too.

I think I like this new way of thinking, I'll just REQUIRE people to do stuff for me. Yep, that's what I should do.

Of course, I seriously doubt anybody would like me at that point - just as they wouldn't like Amazon if they did that.

Instead of having SB's neighbor cut his yard, could you have his neighbor clean out my flower beds? It's late fall and I haven't gotten around to it yet. Thanks!

Hey, Joe. After supper, would you mind coming by and REQUIRING my neighbor to cut his yard? Thanks.

Whaddaya mean you can't REQUIRE my neighbor to do anything?

Yep! They'd say, "Kiss my grits!" LOL!

Jazzy_Jeff says:
Exactly, if they made it a requirement then app companies wouldn't do business with Amazon plain and simple.

What?! You (nor Amazon) can REQUIRE all the different app companies to update or make or anything else, anything.

You see, app makers develop their app(s), then they put it through Amazon's "inspection" and then Amazon decides which apps "passed" - from what I have heard, Amazon is very strict.

The app makers do not work for Amazon - app makers are other customers, somebody off the street that has an idea & develops it - they may get paid by Amazon, but they do not work for Amazon - they (can) make apps for B&N or anybody else & sell them through that company, too.

Edited for typo.

When I first bought my Xbox 360, none of my Xbox games worked on it. The selection of Xbox 360 games was quite limited compared to the games for the 360. Even a lot of the new games that were coming out only worked on the original Xbox. This is nothing new. Give it a few months, and most things will be available for the HD. In a year, people will be complaining that newer apps no longer have a version compatible with the original Fire.

It's the responsibility of the consumer to be aware of issues like this.

If the app developer didn't plan ahead for HD resolutions and not have them mapped out in the apps library, the app will look like junk, or possibly not work on a higher resolution tablet. Should Amazon have waited for tens of thousands of apps to be updated, or should they have released the device when the device was ready?

I've noticed on my HD 8.9 that every place where the app or the app settings may have stated "android device," it states "Kindle" instead.
