Sorry I bought this thing. iPad so much easier to use. Horrible internet browser. Freezes. HBO Go causes it to lock up. Hate it.Kindle Fire HD 8.9", Dolby Audio, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, 32 GB

Well, I just downloaded the latest Kindle Fire software update (Version 7.3.0) and this issue hasn't been fixed. What is going on? I see there are at least three threads on this issue:

I have had this happen, but only in certain apps, and only when the device is rotated vertically. If I swing the device to horizontal, if the app is rotating, it sorts out the Home button.

If it's not a rotating app, sometimes the Back button is accessible. If THAT doesn't work, a reboot, while kind of a pita, of course doesn't wipe the device, just resets it.

I might recommend keeping track of WHICH apps lock up the icons, and maybe see if there are alternatives to those apps. Delete & replace. Good luck!

Same issue. It is an annoyance to say the least. Hopefully a future firmware update can fix it, or may try the factory reset. I also have to restart kindle after charging for it to show a charge, buy that's another issue. Also wondering why those who aren't "amazon support" have to add their two cents when it isn't worth anything?

Same problem here. Pretty annoying and the "solution" is not a solution.
*edit* Locking your orientation before using an app known to have this problem seems to help, but is still bothersome.

I contacted Amazon about this, I have been having the same issue. The only suggestion they made was to either replace my device for me, losing all my data, or factory reset my device, losing all my data. Neither option is very attractive, so I will just make it a point to hold the device horizontally. This issue seems pretty narrow, not many people are experiencing it but I think it may be a simple hardware issue that Amazon may be able to fix in a future Kindle update, if they so choose to address the issue. It is really only a mild annoyance for me since I tend to hold my device horizontal anyway, but it poses issues for readers and gamers alike.

Really Susan? I was being sarcastic. Already have and they suggest resetting the device which doesn't work as basverson and I have tried to tell them.

We aren't Amazon here, we're just customers like you. Call Kindle Support for help.

Yes!! Same here. They all overlap and resetting the KFHD works for awhile but then it goes right back to overlapping. What say you, Amazon?

The menu, home, and favorite buttons all overlap in one spot making it impossible to choose which button I want. When I reset the Kindle it works but then goes back after a while. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it. I love my kindle but this is frustrating me!
