Just deregister the Kindle Fire that's for your 9-year-old from your older daughter's account (or she can deregister it)--check the settings menu for the place to register/deregister. Then register it to your account (you can still name the actual Kindle "Gracie's Kindle" no matter which account it's registered to. That way, when you start a Prime membership on your account, your 9-year-old will be able to watch the free Prime videos.

Yea now thatI read it, it does sound confusing....my older dau(27) has a
kindle that she got PRIME. So when she made another order,Kindle Fire was onsale that day so I got her to order it for my 9yo who loves games, music, and reading....so when we got it had "Courtney's second Kindle." Hubby says he can change that to "Gracie's Kindle." I need to put this under my name(Karen Lott) so when I get Prime she can use it on her KF....I am not a woman of few words....hehe

You can't borrow any KOLL e-books without Prime. With Prime, you can borrow one per calendar month.

Prime helps more with the Fire as far as free movies and episodes go. Prime doesn't really help with the price of kindle books. though I "think" you can borrow more books if you have prime membership.

Also, Prime is mainly a SHIPPING program. You pay $79 per year to ship physical items by 2-day method (as opposed to the completely free standard 3-5 day shipping). Some perks that were added last year (several years after Prime was started) were the video streaming and Kindle Owners' Lending Library, which are available ONLY to the paying Prime member (not guests on the Prime account).

If you don't get things shipped to your house (or use it to ship things to other people), then Prime is probably not worth the $79 for the video streaming and the KOLL alone.

Most Kindles come with 30 day free Prime. Then you have to pay to continue using it. Here is a link to the info for you - http://www.amazon.com/gp/prime/ref=footer_prime

Be sure to click on the FAQ or here - https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=13819211

EDIT - I sure hope you didn't PAY for that book What is Amazon Prime? The Complete Guide to the Amazon Prime Membership when all the info you need is free on the Amazon site. If you did purchase the book within the last 7 days, you can always return it for a refund.

Your question is a bit confusing but you don't register a device with or to Prime. The Amazon account holder subscribes to Prime and then the device(s) registered to that account can use the KOLL or Prime Instant Video.
