how to get rid of notices?

I forgot to change my payment method before I purchased a book, so amazon sent a notice to my kindle telling me my payment method can't be charged etc, etc. I have since paid for the book but the notice won't go away. I've tried deleting it, and moving it to a collection and it wont budge. It's annoying just having it sit there when I know the book is paid for! Help please!

Nevermind I figured it out :)

So what did you do?

I had to hook it up to my computer, and delete it from there. Kind of a pain but at least it's gone!

This might be obvious to some, but it took me a few minutes to realise there are "<" and ">" arrows either side of the underline underneath the notice (on the Kindle 4 "non-touch").
If you click the left or right side of the navigation ring on the five-way navigation thingy a menu will appear - the last item of which allows you to delete the message.
I hope this is not something everyone knew about. please don't shoot me down in flames if it's a dumb response.

P. Jones,

Not a dumb response at all. I used that to get rid of my notices and books that I have already read. So much easier than hooking it up to the computer! Thank you so much for posting that info!

My pleasure A.Mack. I always say; "Even if it only helps one person, it's done it's job."

THANK YOU!!! I've never hooked it up to the computer and would rather not. Your suggestion was awesome and I've never noticed those arrows. It's like a whole new world.

Thanks I used the go to the item press the right or left arrow and it allows you to delete it. I was so worried because I didn't want to have to hook it up to my computer. Thanks again!

Just found out how to do this on the kindle touch too without connecting it to a computer. Click and hold down on the notice and it gives you options. Brilliant!

Thanks julianne. New to this and had a notice on the touch, it's now deleted. Star!

This was not a dumb response at all. I had actually called to find out how to get rid of them and no one could answer the question, so I am really glad I found your "dumb response"!!

I have a Kindle Fire on the way. I am completely new to kindle so I am stoked with anticipation and loaded with trepidation. (Wow - so many syllables) I have been a work in progress with a computer for 27 years and still have many bouts of "What's this silly thing doing now?" So the trepidation is that I am adding another way to frustrate myself with another gadget. I have been reading some of this forum and with all this help, how can I go wrong? Looking forward to taking the plunge.
