Loz says:
It will depend on the size of the movie and the speed of your Internet connection.

The "average" WiFi in the real world downloads at 3-5 Mbps, or so I've read. A movie would require 3-5 minutes. Your mileage may vary.

I downloaded some game patch files today at 1-1.5 Mbps, at that rate a movie could take 10-15 minutes.

Wow, I need your internet. Usually takes me at least an hour to download a 700mb movie file. But internet sucks in Australia. :)

It takes me HOURS, so many that I really don't bother.

Eat your heart out, I live in a relatively rural area, on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains along the Columbia River. I have fiber internet provided through our local Public Utility District, I usually get around 100 Mbps up and down. I am so spoiled!

ETA: Here's a speedtest.net result from tonight: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1944090826.png

I am almost embarrassed to post mine, here goes nothing. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1944104613.png

Of course, this is the worst time of the day for me.

Well, my first modem was a 300 bps dial-up device that you could watch the letters scroll across the screen, so at least you're faster than that!

Geesh, when I try to stream a movie the connection is around 384 kps, to many pauses in video.
