If I buy a second Kindle on my account can all of my books be shared with the second Kindle?

Absolutely. I have three Kindles on my account. Some around here have a dozen or more. Most books can be read on up to six devices at the same time.

Thanks for that. How do I download the books onto the two Kindles and can we both read the same book at the same time without problems?

On the second Kindle, just go into the archives and download the books.

If you go to Manage Your Kindle on Amazon and turn off the Whispersync Device Synchronization, it will make it so you can read books at the same time. I believe if you leave it on it will make the book open to the farthest read page. When ever my mom read a book after I did hers always opened to the last page. Turning if off will take care of that problem.

Great - I'll definitely try another Kindle for the household.

Go into Archived Items on the Kindle (or Books->Cloud, if you have a Fire) and select the books you want to download to that device. You can also send books to either Kindle using the 'Actions...' menu on the 'Manage Your Kindle' page - https://amazon.com/myk.

If different people are reading the same book at the same time, turn off device synchronization. From the above MYK page, click 'Manage Your Devices', and scroll down to the device sync setting.
