My son's Kindle Keyboard has been on the USB charger on my computer
for maybe 2 hours and it is still the yellow LED light.

How long should I let it charge before worrying that the battery is belly up ?

Is it difficult and costly to get a new battery ?

Using the USB cable is the slowest way to charge the Kindle. It might take several more hours, as the USB ports do not provide a large amount of power. Using the wall charger charges mine in an hour or two; the USB port can take me 4 hours or more.

Takes mine 3-4 hours to fully charge by USB.

Also not all USB ports are powered or provide sufficient output to charge the Kindle especially if it is a older model computer. Many times the front ports are not powered and the back ports are.

Never heard of a difference between the front and back ports !

Holy Bovine !

I put it on the Wall adapter that came with it.

Don't know squat about this thing - it is my young son's Kindle.

I wanted to read a couple of pdf Lathe manuals somewhere else than
in front of my computer. Turns out the Computer Screen is much better
for my old 70 year old eyes....wish I had the actual BOOK !

ALSO ---> Does it hurt the Kindle Battery to let it charge overnight ?
Some batteries go bad if left to charge too long.

Li-ion polymer batteries are *very* finicky about overcharging, so all devices that use them have elaborate charging controllers. The result is that you can keep it plugged in as long as you wish.
