I noticed that Amazon has lowered the price of the Kindle Fire with 32 g
twice now. Does anyone have an idea why they are doing that. Also, is it worth the extra money to buy the 32?

That is entirely up to you and your wallet and how much space you think you will need.
Now as to the why, they have been lowering the price on all Kindles.

But if you want my personal opinion, if you do videos and music more than books and like keeping everything on the device then yes the extra storage would probably be worth it.

It strongly depends on your usage pattern. For example, if you stay online most of the time, 16GB will suffice. But if you want to stock on movies for kids during cross country drive (or just flight), or plan to have a large photo collection or many audiobooks with you all the time, 32GB version is worth considering.

My KFHD7 has 16GB, and I have to clean dross from it every month or so, and have no space for, say, a full season of several TV series. OTOH, if I had access to Amazon streaming service, that would not be an issue.

For only $30 more I absolutely would get the 32gb device.
