does the kindle fire hdx 7" allow video chat also or is it just the 8.9"? and how about video streaming to your tv?

Yes and yes. It's on the product page:

Kindle Fire HDX 7", HDX Display (Previous Generation - 3rd)

Front-Facing HD Camera
Both the 7" and 8.9" Kindle Fire HDX tablets have a front-facing 720p HD camera, perfect for Skype HD video calls and taking photos to share via Facebook or e-mail.

Watch on the Big Screen
NEW-Fling movies and TV shows from your tablet to your big-screen TV using Second Screen. This turns your TV into the primary screen, freeing up your Kindle Fire to provide playback controls, a customized display for X-Ray, or simply be a place to email, browse the web, and more while you watch a movie. Second Screen is available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Samsung TVs.

Mirror Your Screen
NEW-Turn your television into your tablet monitor. With Kindle Fire HDX tablets and select Miracast-enabled accessories and TVs, you can wirelessly mirror your tablet screen, including movies, TV shows, and photos.

Yes, both the 7" and 8.9" has the same feature, the only difference is the screen display

Yes. Both the HDX models (the 7" and the 8.9") have these features. The only real difference is that the 8.9 model has a larger screen and a rear facing camera.

LOL...the thought that a front facing camera is good for taking photos

I did use the camera on my 2012 HD Fire at my job the other day when I realized needed to take a picture of something. We had been using the Fire to stream Christmas music from Pandora over a Bluetooth speaker, so I had been keeping it at work. My cell phone has a camera, but the quality is worse than the one on the Fire (believe it or not).

I just received my new Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 4G LTE (AT&T). When I charged the device, I discovered that the AT&T 4G was apparently fully operational. I am not a current AT&T customer nor have I signed up for AT&T coverage for this unit. I called Amazon Kindle Support & was told that I had FREE AT&T for one year. I could find no confirmation anywhere that this information was correct. I then contacted Amazon through the Mayday feature on the HDX. I was told that "No, there was not a free year of AT&T." However, the agent had no idea why the AT&T was operational on my unit. Has anyone else experienced this? Who should I believe: Amazon Agent One or Amazon Agent Two??!!

VA Reader: When you bought that Kindle, you had the choice of either the AT&T model or the Verizon model.

There is no free period with this year's model. You have to go to the AT&T website and sign the Fire up for a data plan. Or you can use it on your wifi network at home and elsewhere.

Thanks for your response John...I still am confused why the AT&T 4G is functional on the unit BEFORE I have contacted AT&T to sign up.

I can't help with an answer for that.

Use the large orange Contact Us button to the right to contact Amazon Kindle CS and talk with them about it - use the live chat or the call back feature if you can, not email. If you can't see a Contact Us button on this page, then go to and contact CS. I advise using Live Chat or the Call Me Back feature and not email, as they will have your account details available to them immediately when you talk with them.
