I kinda thought the whole idea of a Tablet was freedom from all that stuff - I wouldn't want to have to lug around a keyboard and a mouse and if I need to use them, I'll just use my laptop (faster wordprocessing anyway and more storage space)

I agree. By the time you add a stand and external speakers, you might as well carry a laptop around again.

As I posted in an other Amazon thread, there are many tablets which support the Logitech Android 3.1+ mouse but not Apple or Amazon. The following tablets support this mouse: Acer Iconia A500, AsusTransformer Prime, Droid MAXX, HP, Motorolla XOOM, Nexus, Samsung Galaxy, and Toshiba Thrive. There are others but these I have seen in reviews as supporting the mouse.

I don't understand. How do you click on links in the web browser on the kindle fire hd if you can't use a mouse?

It's a touch screen. You touch them.

You can also use a stylus. I use a stylus with all my tablets, it keeps the screens clean.

I use a rooted HTC Sensation phone with a BT mouse and keyboard to VPN to my office desktop when on the road. I also use the MHL video connector for presentations. I've never liked laptops much + I just pack a small keyboard and mouse. I'll probably root and load CM10 soon... the amazon environment is starting to feel restricting.

No one mentioned an update. There is no update. You can not use any type mouse with Kindle Fire HD 7 in. Tablet except the Dinovo Edge which is a combo mouse/keyboard.

I am typing this on a Bluetooth Keyboard connected to an unrooted Kindle Fire HD 7" and was able to navigate all the way here by using the integrated touch pad on said keyboard.

The pairing was simple and since it's just one device.. no problems... when using the touchpad; a small blue cursor appears on my Kindle screen and the only part that doesn't seem to work is the scroll wheel areas. However, this can be done using the nearby cursor keys.

FYI: The keyboard I am using is an old Logitech DiNovo Edge

UPDATE: Also appears that the Volume control on my keyboard is able to control the volume on the Kindle... similarly the Hibernate key serves as the lock button.

AND.. though I know the main theme of the thread is getting both a mouse and a keyboard working... This is my first time trying to pair a keyboard to my Kindle and I must say I'm impressed that functions such as ctrl+c/ctrl+v etc. work as one would expect. Even alt+tab works as it does on a PC.. allowing me to navigate between applications with ease.

I don't see myself using it extensively but it sure will be an easier way to type e-mails and such. (not to mention this post).

My logitech dinovo does that sometimes so heres what I do it works everytime. Turn your bluetooth off then shutdown your kindle. Leave it off for 1 minute then turn it on again along with the bluetooth setting and then it should pair ;) click

Ryan J. Hess says:
Its an edge but it has a dongle all you do is keep the keyboard off and then navigate to your bluetooth settings when you get there turn off your bluetooth and then back on again then wait until its done searching hit search for available devices and turn on your keyboard then press the sync button then when it finds your keyboard hit the keyboards name and it will say pairing make sure you don't hit the sync button again during this transaction or it will mess up and youll have to restart. then youll get a message saying type in this number on the keyboard and tap enter and it will connect. Reminder while its searching for your devices you have to be quick as soon as it says that its found the keyboard tap on it so you must only tap the sync button once during the whole pairing process. ;D

you can any bluetooth mouse will work and everyone who says that its a touch screen and that it doesnt have a pointerr to manipulate is obviously stupid because I did it with my logitech diNovo edge and the trackpad worked

My Fire HD isn't able to pair with my Apple bluetooth mouse. So perhaps I'm stupid, but it isn't true that any bluetooth mouse will work.

actually i think you can use a mouse on the kindle fire hd. Amazon sells a wire cable that plugs in to one of the two ports on the kindle fire hd. it allows stuff with a usb to plug in to it.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 18, 2013, 1:54:40 PM PST
Jason, the USB ports on the Fire cannot host a mouse.

As previous posts by N. Jacot and Ryan Hess state, The Dinovo Edge works great with Kindle Fire HD. It is expensive but can be purchased used/refurbished for $70 at the place whose name starts with an E. I just found out how to replace the Li battery in it as there is a video on youtube and the battery is only $10 at the same place (E...).
I still think the Logitech android bluetooth mouse does not work with Kindle Fire HD but am hoping someone can prove me wrong.

Unrooted Kindle Fire HD 7" works with this DBTech Mini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard (3-in-1 multimedia wireless keyboard (Keyboard, TouchPad, Laser Pointer))
It's not the most comfortable to use but the keyboard and touchpad both work!
