My Fire browser had been stuck in landscape mode all day (orientation was unlocked). Rebooting solved the problem.

Thank you! I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it from portrait to landscape, since landscape is my preferred way of using my Kindle Fire. Thanks so much. Now my stress is gone! :)

I have this same problem, however it's with freetime. I can't seem to get freetime out of landscape. Any suggestions?

Anthony,

I Kindle FreeTime automatically locks many of the items (and the UI's) in landscape mode. Typically, this is when books or apps/games are designed to be accessed in that orientation. Some items are not locked. I've found, for example, that books may be locked in landscape if they have illustrations and unlocked if not. The main UI's, however, appear to be locked in portrait mode.
