Meya,
Before I started reading this thread I had Dolphin on my original KFire so I did go get the current version, which is v8.8.1

They may have changed something, because this one works with a Flash file I got from XDA developers forum.

Where did you get ES File Explorer? It's not in the Amazon app store on my Fire HD.

They removed it last night.
We have no idea why. I would think get jar would have it.

There are various alternatives to ESFileExplorer including Astro that can be side loaded. Not sure why ESFE has been removed but I have a suspicion it may be because it's being used to do exactly what this thread discusses. :)

In any event, it appears that "Easy Installer" will provide the functionality required. And it's still available. (At least until someone in authority reads this. :) )

I just checked the Amazon app store and ES File Explorer is available for free download. They must have added it back.

Thanks, JW. I just did this after installing ES File Explorer and it worked. Ridiculous that we have to go through all this just to watch Flash videos, but it was worth it!

Thanks - still can't get it to work around. Will bring to the younger generation to see if they can figure it out but if I can't watch current episodes of network TV the day after, I don't want this thing. It will go back. Even if flash is going out, they should have installed it or at least let us install it and when html5 comes in they update. How hard is that? Really annoyed.

I agree, Nina. BTW, I installed Dolphin and Flash, and now my new KF2 is slower than smoke off. . .

I guess it's back to Silk and no Flash.

It's not an Amazon issue--Adobe is no longer supporting flash on mobile devices at all, not just on the Fire. You won't find it on any new tablets, etc. Sites need to make the move to HTML 5.

Thanks for the great help Meya and jsh1120

I successfully downloaded Dolphin and then read some comments here about ES Explorer. I noticed that I used ES File Explorer which is no longer available but has lots of current reviews.

I see that there is also ES File Explorer. Is this the one I should be using?

Yes, Kris K, it seems the second link has the most current version.

eta: Actually, please let us know if that second link installs. I'm confused by the two versions, I have the earlier version installed on my Fire HD, and it works fine, but I'm not able to download and install the later version. And there seems to be something called ES File Explorer Cupcake.

Thanks.

It shouldn't matter *which version of the Fire you have, the instructions here should work.

Per posted instructions, I downloaded the Dolphin browser 8.5.1. using ES File Explorer. Tested Dolphin on non-Flash webpages. Worked well. Then, using the Dolphin browser, I downloaded Flash. All went well....even passed various "Flash-tests" that are everywhere on-line. But then I tried to play some news clips. The good news: the video window displayed the little "Play" arrow (which was not the case when Flash was not present). The bad news: Pressing play caused the video to try to load, then Dolphin crashed. Trying it 5 more times, even after re-booting, Dolphin consistently crashed. So, I'm stuck..... Any ideas?

tbar,
I don't know if this will help in your case because your storage space and apps area may be more used up than mine, but I am using current Dolphin version 8.8.1 and have been able to use the flash file. I don't know if you downloaded the flash file that is recommended by the members of this forum who are using Dolphin and flash in the KFHD (I'm using v11.1) Their recommended Flash file is discussed at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771463

Also, when you have a browser crash, you can often just try again and then it works. The other thing? Power off your device and then power back on and it may clear up whatever caused the problem.

Thank you for your reply. The link that you refer to is where I got Flash file that I installed. Yep, a John Stewart rant brought it to its knees. He didn't even get to utter his first barb! So I'm still stuck... but I love my KF-HD none the less.

It's weird, because I bought my kindle about 2 weeks ago (around October 5th). And at first, I had no problem viewing YouTube videos. In fact, my son watched an hour-long Sesame street movie on it with no problems at all. Then all the sudden a couple days ago I got a message that my Kindle HD was downloading updates. Now I can't see any videos on YouTube. I'm going to try installing dolphin and the flash - thanks for the info :)

QUESTION (probably a really stupid question) Do I install it (performance-wise) as an andriod phone? It's obviously not a desktop, and it isn't an i-pad... I forgot the 4th option... but I hope I didn't just screw that up...

I have Dolphin on my KFHD, but I never did install flash. I'm able to view YouTube through the YouTube website on my KFHD. Recently I got and installed the freeb YouTube app from 1Mobile Market and it works well.

I obtained the Dolphin browser from this link:

And, I believe I installed it as a Android mobile device. That's the only one that made any sense.
