I took mine back and got the regular Kindle. I like it so much better. Much easier to turn pages too.

I have had my Kindle Touch for several months and it's always been fine...always connecting to wifi and being able to read books. But recently my Kindle will not connect to ANY Wifi source, whether at home or a public one. I am so frustrated! I have updated the software and everything. Any advice? Please :)

C. Rye, I had the exact same issue with mine and a factory reset cleared it right up. Hope this helps.

♥ Ann says:
I'd try a reboot first. A factory reset is a little drastic for most issues.

Go to Home -> Menu -> Settings -> Menu -> Restart, or press and hold the power button for a full 30 seconds, then release and wait for it to restart.

I did many, many restarts and only the factory reset fixed the issue.

My home button doesn't respond at all. I have to do a hard restart, by holding the on/off key for 20 seconds everytime I want to go to the home page.
Very frustrating. Has anyone else had this problem?

I would call Amazon. That isn't typical.

I just got a kindle touch, and it won't hold a charge. Comp[letely drained in 2 days and now it won't charge up at all. I was really hoping to taking it comping tomorrow, what can I do?

Call Amazon.

Lanora: Did you by chance load a lot of books on it? If so, it could still be indexing them, which tends to drain the battery much faster than usual. The not charging problem, however, is unusual. How do you determine that it isn't charging?

Hi,
I have just taken delivery of my Kindle Touch. I have downloaded a free book just to test everything is okay.
My issue is that I would like the screen to be brighter when I'm reading. Is there a setting to increase the brightness?
Advice please?
Thanks
Mark

There is no setting for screen brightness because the electronic ink screen does not use a light. The brightness is entirely dependent upon how much light you have in the room, just like reading a book.

Ok, thanks...I will stop looking !!
Cheers Bruce.

But if your screen's contrast is significantly worse than the images here: Kindle Touch You should probably contact Kindle CS, you may have a defective unit.

Your Kindle is probably version 5.0.1
You need 5.1.1 which supposedly fixes all touch problems.

Yes.
they are very difficult to understand.
Took 2 1/2 hours before I finally gave up trying to have them download version 5.1.1
They seem to know what to do, they just can't get it done.

I think you just had bad luck. Many, or most of the people on the Kindle CS team are excellent. Also if they are difficult to understand, try using the "chat" feature instead. Accents are a lot less bothersome in text. (See, you can't even tell that I am typing this in sort of a Cockney-Hyderabad-Melbourne Brogue.)

Interesting idea.
Wonder how long a 21/2 technical phone conversation would be using "chat"?

@A. johnson have you tried restarting your kindle?

disregard this post, I didn't realize I was responding to a post that was as old as it was

kindle crazy says:
I've had a Kindle with key board for a 1.8 years and it just stopped connecting to my home wi-fi. I spent 5 hours with both Kindle support and my network provider trouble shooting it. Kindle Support finally determined my device's wi-fi antana was not working anymore. I'm just wondering if this has happened to other owners and if they were able to salvage the device.
