@Grandma, I will check those out. Thanks for the info. I know I can watch my movies on my kindle fire or my computer but I can enjoy them more if I am on the sofa snuggled under my throw. :-) I love to watch tv and read all at the same time which drives my hubby crazy. He always asks me how I can do that and know what is happening on my show and in my book. I always explain when you are a mother you always have to multitask and do a lot of things at the same time especially when you have little girls and they have ALL of their friends over for a fingernail painting/slumber/pizza party lol

It has been a slow couple of days for me, picking-up-free-books-wise. I didn't post any at all yesterday and I won't go back post the ones previously offered yesterday because I didn't even mark them down!

So, for today and yesterday:

Previously:
BoonieRats (First Novel in the BoonieRats - Jake Olson Series) (Dec 18 - we were watching "Sons of Anarchy" on dvd - what can I say?)
King's X (Jan 16)
Out of the Limelight (Feb 16)

Today, I've only taken two:
The Good Neighbor (Sounds interesting - although one reviewer didn't like it, but also said they quit before 25% of the way through, so that doesn't count in my book)
The Pale Boy (This is a VERY short - 4 pages - story, apparently. However, reviewers seemed to really like it. Also, Theresa Weir is Anne Frasier, who has written several books available for free earlier. Alas, I have read NONE of them yet, but I seem to be intrigued by her and her product descriptions often enough that I will take anything offered, pretty much, lol)

Yesterday, I took Players (Lindsay Carter Detective) (oh my - definitely NOT FREE NOW! - which completes that collection, I believe, for me)

And between Saturday and Sunday, late, I took The Colony (Jim Jovian mystery) (ouch - ALSO NOT FREE NOW - sorry!)

Know what you mean Rose Red when you talk about crazy hubby.. I used to read while we watch our shows (streaming thru his puter on Hulu+ or CBS to the tv), but to help keep the peace I save my crocheting for our tv time since he felt I simply could not keep up with the shows and read at the same time. Why he thinks crocheting (and of course keeping up with this thread) is any different is beyond me. You would be amazed how much reading you can sneak in on the commercials though. <g>

I am getting an email from Amazon for every book I get. Can I opt to get them sent like they did before, 10 books in 1 email? Where can I find the setting for that? I certainly don't want so many emails. Amazon sends me quite enough as it is. I don't remember making a selection to get them bundled up 10 books at a time in 1 email but I really like it that way. It just started and stopped with no explanation.

@OregonDreamer, that is the way my hubby feels too. Funny thing about him is he doesn't want me to read while we watch tv together and then I look over and he is sleeping! lol

Edited for mistakes

I know, but these pictures seem to mostly go with the recipes... the only really weird one was them showing the peppers being roasted but calling for a jar of roasted peppers, and then that was the one recipe I found. It's weird

Hi everyone. Thank you Celestial Kitty and RandOR for starting us. Also, I hope all the Moms here had a happy day yesterday! (I haven't been able to catch up with the weekend threads.)

Here's four that I thought look good today:

The Goat Queen Mystery & Thrillers/Psychological Thriller

The Follow Mystery & Thrillers/Police Procedural

The Underground Sci-Fi/Futuristic Dystopian

Falling (Bits and Pieces) YA Fiction

Rose Red - I agree completely. I wish Amazon would go back to the combined receipt emails myself. True, they took a little longer to get, but who cares? I could care less if I get a receipt two seconds after I make a free purchase!

On heavy days when I take 5-6+ books, those emails are a nuisance because I feel I have to check every one. My email provider is a pita because they don't respond to single clicks and sometimes you have to click 3-4 times to get back to your inbox once you are in the Amazon email.

See, but now I'm whining again *sigh*. They only did the single email thing for about a week. I miss it. Just sayin'. . .

Hello all
Strange I got an email from eReader that says that
Reclaiming Lily is free today but it is not on their site !!
Has anyone read it ?

@Deena - per your post, I took The Goat Queen. It seems like a strong possible - I just hope it's not another Stephen King "Misery" - type. He already did that one very well.

I clicked the "Look Inside" and the writing seems strong enough, at any rate.

Hi, bethcross, Regarding your post for Rose Red - Just wanted to let you know I still get the combined receipt emails. I agree that they take a little longer to receive, but I find it better than a ton of individual emails. Maybe there's a preference to change with Amazon? I don't know!

Huh. Well now, that's interesting. Anybody else have any clues? Off to peruse settings now. . .

Are you SURE that is from ereader and isn't a phishing attempt redandwhite? I subscribe to eReader and did not get anything like that.

Grandma says:
Nope, because i have never gotten combined receipts even once.

I only got the combined invoices a couple of times but I loved them! Sometimes I don't get to my emails for days and then I have pages and pages of them to go through. I'm afraid to just delete them w/o opening them in case I got charged for something I thought was free. It takes forever to sift through them all.

I have sorted through all of Amazon's email preference settings and nowhere do I see how to change the number of emails for receipts. I am thinking I am going to email THEM. If I get any kind of response, I will come back and let everyone know. . .

Just wanted to apologize for my bad manners last night. Between my health issues, terrible insomnia and shyness, I should know better than to post when I am not feeling well. I had left a post about losing my mother and the lack of any response left me feeling exposed and ignored. Not an excuse but hopefully I won't be leaving you with the impression that I am a nut. Just a very tired, introverted bibliophile.
Thanks for all you do to fatten my kindle. Back to work and lurking where I belong. Have a good day!

Moggy K, This is weird now. Am I the only one getting the combined emails? I better not talk too loud. I don't want it to change.

Open Calibre
Add books
Click on "edit medadata"
Delete author / title information and add the correct information. If for some reason that is unknown, click on "view" which is how you read a book in calibre and there should be some clue there. :)
Click on "downoad metadata" (button on bottom of page) if you want a different cover or a product description. Which you can also edit if you only want what the story is about and not all the other stuff. You can add stars and tags. When done, click okay. That saves all your work. A GOOD thing.
Hilight the book(s) when done and click on convert books. Choose your format choice (upper right hand corner). Wait while it converts.
You can either leave the books in the calibre library folder or click on save to disk and put into a folder of your choice. A great way to organize on your computer.
Connect kindle to computer. Hilight calibre books to upload and click on upload. If you did not converted the books, you will be asked if you want to convert and calibre will do that before uploading. Or go into your book folder and manually load your kindle or tablet.
