Celestial Kitty, it's the least I could do. You all put in so much time an effort to keep this thread running.

Please keep my husband in your prayers is all I need. (Just a warning. The last time I asked for this, I and people who responded got DVs.)

Elizabeth S H,
I don't mind DV's, especially if it's because of a call for prayers. Be assured you and your husband are still on our list for daily remembrance.
Please keep us updated on how things are going.

You are very special to us.

I am thinking good thoughts for your husband and you. I am sorry that you all are going through. I don't know if he has had his surg yet (I haven't been around too much for a handful of days). Either way. I hope he and you are well.
(((Elizabeth S H)))
Let the DV come, I don't mind.

Zoo Keeper and Charlie-bird, thank you. My husband, hopefully will have one hip replaced on Monday. He's had to have the surgery postponed twice; once his back and knees went out and then he was fighting h-pylori and c-diff. After he recuperates, he has to have the other hip replaced, then they will work on his back.

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 4, 2012, 3:23:02 PM PDT
:'( How miserable he must be with the 2 conditions (not to mention back and knee!!). They are so hard to deal with on their own, let alone having had both.
Keep your head up.

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 4, 2012, 3:24:34 PM PDT
I hope his surgeries go well. I know my brother works with a guy his age (early/mid twenties) who recently had to have a hip replaced and that guy's younger brother had to have both hips replaced also (hereditary condition). They both seem to be doing well now, and I hope it's the same way for your husband. :)

Just to chime in about music, I saw Foreigner last night. I don't think any original members are left, but they put on a good long show on a humid night.

@Elizabeth S H

I wish the very best outcome for your husband's surgery!

I've heard people say that after this surgery, it's like a new lease on life.....he has more ahead of him and then I hope he's able to do more of what he wants and not have constant pain.

You hang in there too through all of this!

Charlie-bird and Celestial Kitty and all, thank you for your support.
My husband has had it rough; fighting aggressive prostate cancer and then all of this. (The radiation probably caused his hip problems; he has no cartilage left, bone on bone) His has a bad back and knees from fighting fires. He has been handling things very well until recently, it's taking a toll on him. He's always in pain. He's had enough. Thank you all for your prayers; he really appreciates it and so do I.

You and your husband are always in my prayers and I've thought of you a lot but we hadn't run into each other to ask. I'll be there in thought Monday with all of our other friends. Please let us know the outcome when you have time.

replace electric guitar with bass and I could get more into symphonic metal.
But it wouldn't be metal without the guitar.

Hunting the 331 book kinlib list:

Nobody's Angel- Historical Mystery
Eddie Miles is an old-school cab driver working the streets of Chicago in the mid-1990s. He's a throwback to an earlier era of homegrown cabbies who knew every street and alley on their beats. Clark's tale is really more of a mood piece than a crime novel. Yes, Eddie does turn amateur sleuth in an effort to determine who killed his best friend, Lenny, a fellow hack whose body was found in an alley near the notorious Cabrini-Green housing project, but the real focus isn't so much on the wave of cabbie killings gripping the city as on the city itself. Eddie drives the streets at night like Harry Bosch in a Michael Connelly novel (or a less-crazed Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver) and comments on what he sees and hears, from obnoxious yuppie tourists on Rush Street through teenage prostitutes on West Side corners. The cynical, melancholy cabbie point of view is perfect for this kind of neon-lit, noir-tinged, saxophone-scored prose poem, and Clark hits all the right notes.

The Telling Of Shoes ~ a dark fairy tale- Suspense
New York City Judge, Julia Husson, narrates a mysterious and tragic tale about two young women: A princess and a shoemaker.
When scientific evidence disputes her dying father's paternity, the princess is cast into the cold. Betrayed by a stepsibling, she then finds herself locked in an asylum. But ultimately, it is the princess' blood that infects her, as though a curse has been set upon her father's house. Eventually, she escapes the imprisonment, but not the madness. Where is she now? Only Julia knows.
All the while, Julia's niece, the shoemaker, spends her days and nights toiling for a famous, and manipulative, shoe designer whose identity is hidden behind the guise of an outlandish chenille dot birdcage veil. Although the obedient shoemaker is religiously devoted to the quest for the perfect shoe, she finds herself torn between two charming suitors: the first, a Method actor; the other, a gentleman of mystery. But when her pursuit of the elusive happily-ever-after reveals a cruel proposition, the outcome is deadly.
