On the contrary, I came to this forum because I am a new Fire User and also wondered about the ambient light sensors purpose. But I had to wade through much impolite answers to the same queßtion that I imposed my "entitled rant" time for me to hit the beach now.

Is there an AUX cable for the Kindle Fire that I can get to use to listen to books in the car? I've been @ this for hours now! (researching, picking stuff, blah blah blah) someone please point me in the right directions so i can just anxiously await my purchase! Please! :) Thanks!

Do you mean a cable to hook to your car's speakers?
And are you talking about audiobooks?

Please clarify. Although starting a new thread is probably a good idea.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 11, 2012, 5:34:16 PM PST
It depends how your car is set up. If you have a plug in your car you need the cable to hook it from the Fire headphone output to the plug in your car.

If you have a cassette player, there are adaptors that go into cassette player and plug into the headphone port and the Fire plays through the car's speaker system.

If you provide more information, I will search on amazon for you. Otherwise, Radio shack is a good source for that kind of thing.

Yes. Yes it is. It's the camera Big Brother uses to spy on you.

I smile when I use it.

Just be sure to check for any green food bits stuck in there first. 'Cause that REALLY grosses out the Homeland Security people.

And the FBI guys must REALLY hate spinach bits. I know this because 42 of them surrounded my house last weekend, shortly after I had a spinach salad, before I could even brush my teeth. But that's a tale that was told in a different thread, and lord knows, I would hate to go OT in any thread. :-)

I need wine. Lots and lots of wine.

You are going to need something a lot stronger than wine because, after another 2 pages, I am going to ask why every time I press the shutter button on my Kindle Fire all it does is turn my screen on and off.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 17, 2012, 7:43:17 PM PST

All I have is wine.

Yes. The zoom is a great feature. I used it to take some nice footage last week and mentioned it in a different camera thread.

At least, I think it was a different one. They're beginning to meld together in my brain. Or they're beginning to melt my brain.

Oh, yeah. Here it is! It was in the "Does the fire have ANY cameras?" thread. Quite different from this thread. "Does the fire have A camera?" How silly of me to mix those two threads up. Two entirely different animals. This is what I said about the zoom feature...

.... Sorry, it's just that I've been so busy today posting youtube videos, (taken with my fire, natch) I must have missed adding you to the joint email that went out early this morning?

BTW The zoom on the fire's video function is so cool! I got some really good footage of John Lennon, George Harrison and Sonny Bono performing live on stage. Sweet! (Paul sent regrets. He really wanted to be there.) :-( ...

It works really well, once you get the hang of it. ; )

Lmao thank God I read this before ask the same question lol

Our sincerest thanks to you for reading BEFORE posting on this topic.

You are first among the brave and proud "does the fire have a camera, then what is that little round window thingy that looks like a camera lens, is it really a disabled ambient light sensor?"

And you richly deserve to be counted as first. Truly. I think I can safely speak for a majority of the forum members that venture into the camera threads when I say...

"Thank you for reading first."

Welcome to the forum. We are glad that you have arrived.

I have only one question for you before you accept your award.

How do you feel about the lack of parental controls on the kindle fire?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 19, 2012, 7:27:01 PM PST
GnomeEd says:
I'm not so concerned with parental controls as I am about free 3G. When will there be a software update for that? :)

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 19, 2012, 7:38:49 PM PST
@CupEd: As soon as they figure out how to send the requisite additional hardware through to you using a downloaded file. :>) Now that would really be something - an industry leading development!

Never. Not on this generation of fires, anyway.

Who knows what Ammy plans for future fires? No one (except Amazon) knows but many have speculated.

If you do a forum search for fire 3g or google it, you'll get lots of info.

Posted on Feb 20, 2012, 6:50:02 AM PST
If you wanted 3G, you should not have bought the Fire.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 20, 2012, 7:22:22 AM PST
If people want to ask Amazon, they're perfectly welcome to do so. And they will be told that IT'S NOT A CAMERA.

But they DIDN'T ask Amazon, now did they? They CHOSE to ask other customers.
