Kindle Fire: I'm playing spider solitaire, random pause times, then kindle fire jumps to another screen and starts playing "The Devil Inside" movie trailer, like a pop up opening the browser. Very annoying! I do not like scary movies and do not like having to push buttons to keep going back to my game from an unsolicited commercial of a movie I have no interest in seeing. How do I stop the pop-up movie trailer?

Does anyone else think the volume is too low on the kindle fire. When I am watching a move, it has to be completely quiet and still I have trouble hearing it. I have the volume turned all the way up to the higest setting.
Also, does anyone else feel that the charger wire is too short. Hopefully, Kindle will supply longer wires. I wa told by Amazon rep to use an extension cord.

Thank you so much for your reply. Are you happy overall with the kindle fire? I am new to "techy" stuff, however, I love my old kindle and I thought it would be nice to have something that I can always have with me that has the datebook/planner and I am able to read books and maybe read email.

Does the Kindle Fire connect to all e-mail sites? I have comcast email, and probably themain reason I want to buy a pad is to be able to get my email when I'm away from home.

I have the same problem when playing Solitaire, it's happened at least 10 times today. I've tried everything to make it stop. It's driving me nuts.

@Nicholas Kohanowski :
Having the same problem! Didn't start until 1-8-12 after downloading from Amazon 2 different calendar apps. Deleted both apps, deleted regular solitaire that was doing it when it started, now spider solitaire is doing it...downloaded AVG antivirus, scanned, says I have no virus, yet I still keep getting the movie trailer...Whatever hostile program this is, is also accessing my 'Gallery' app on Kindle Fire...

Have you gotten any help to resolve this?
Tech support emailed me to do a hard restart which was useless, didn't fix anything...

khoag & Nicholas; Same thing here with Spider solitaire. Reg. solitaire has an ad for Spider solitaire which is a little problem, but Spider solitaire is totally unacceptable with the movie trailer overriding the game. I just won't play it and wait to see if there is a cure. If not I'll delete Spider solitaire. So far my other apps seem to be OK.

I hope those who of you who downloaded Spider will post reviews telling about the trailer. Like many folks, I read the reviews even for free apps, and mention of a pop-up video would mean an automatic "don't download" for me.

Do you have to register a cc even to get the free apps. My Kindle Fire will not let me access any and I am getting an error message each time.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 8, 2012, 1:52:45 PM PST
Yes, your CC won't be charged but it has to be on file to "buy" apps even if they're free.

My Kindle Fire started with a very low volume; then one day the volume was better. I think it might have been after the update?
Also, my cell phone cord (LG eNV3) works with my Kindle Fire. It's one of those cords that the usb cable comes out of the pronged plug.

It works just like any wireless computer. When you enter the User name and password, it connects the same way a laptop would.

You can email yourself the movie, then open it in your email program.

I am experiencing the same problem with the video randomly launching. Late last night I actually had my fire turned off and in its case when the video launched---scared the daylights out of me. I've don't a hard shut down but it didn't help---has anyone else dealt with this problem?

Dear khoas and nicholas:
I have the same problem with the solitaire game. It seems that the company, Mobility Ware, indulges in this form of advertising. I have not tried any of the other games put out by Mobility Ware because of this problem.
To avoid the problem in the future, you should not download any game from this company. I do not know about the calendar app, but if it ad supported, then the company that made this app, may also engage in the same type of obnoxious tactics as does Mobility Ware.
This is not an Amazon problem or a kindle fire defect. This is a problem with the companies making the software. But I do think that we should notify Amazon about the problems with these companies. Since we all seem to love playing solitaire, maybe Amazon can talk some other company into making a good app.
The problem I had was I could not find any other app that had really good graphics and that I enjoyed as much as the game put out by Mobility Ware. I would rather have an app that I pay for, than a program with irritating ads.
Again we should contact Amazon via customer feedback and ask about developing good solitaire games without ads that drive us crazy.

Hi Ann ~ thought I had it but no luck yet ~ this where I am if you have time to help. I bought a ciscoLinksys 1500 5 port ethernet switch ~ upon recommendation of the store employee. I have set up a wireless network on my computer but still cannot access my kindlefire ~ is it because a switch is different from a router? I have internet through my cable company and set up the switch with a #5 cable from my cable router to the switch and one from the computer to the switch. My computer internet is working fine. Any suggestions are welcomed!

I have uploaded on my new Kindle Fire some books. The file names in the directory indicate that the files are either mobi files or mobi 2. Only the mobi files are showing on my list of documents. What should I do so that I can view the mobi 2 docs?

@Beenie - Unfortunately, an ethernet switch isn't what you need. A switch just allows you to physically connect multiple devices to your internet. You need a wireless router. A wifi router plugs into your internet cable modem and sends a wifi signal throughout your home. Any wifi devices you have can then connect to your network wirelessly. Your computer connects to the internet via the ethernet cable that is plugged into it. Your Kindle needs to connect to the internet via a wireless radio signal produced by a wifi router. You don't need to set anything up on your computer. Hope that helps!

You are right on the money correct... =]
Ads between games is expected for a free app, not hostile takeover of the device.
Sent my thoughts on this to mobilityware and amazon both...
