Jann- Go to the Manage Your Kindle page in Amazon. You'll find it by putting your cursor to the upper left of the Amazon screen "Shop by Department" then Kindle then at the bottom you'll see Manage Your Kindle. It will make you plug in your Amazon password. Once you get into the Manage Your Kindle screen, click on Manage Your Devices. Your registered Kindle Fire will be listed right on the screen with a picture of it. All the way to the right of the picture of the Kindle Fire you can click on Deregister. Once your old Kindle Fire is Deregistered you can register the new one to your old account.

Use your laptop and in go to manage apps and devices. Make sure you deregister the correct one. The serial number on your new one is under settings, then more, than Device. That will be the serial number you want to keep so deregister the other Fire on your account. I am so sorry for all you are going through but at the same time I applaud your doctor for working within the system to keep you alive rather than send you home to save a few bucks! We love you here and want you to stay! I'm sure your in no hurry to leave either! Besides your too ornery to go! My wife had sepsis(Blood infection) about 12 years ago and she almost died. At the time, Cipro was about the strongest thing they had and they dumped bags of that stuff to bring her back. Seven days that she has no memory of. It is nothing to "F" around with! So bear with him and you will be kicking butt in no time! Glenn

HI, JannE! Go on your laptop if you can and de-register your old Kindle Fire. Go to the Manage My Kindle page in Amazon and click on Manage Your Devices. Your previous FIRE will be listed on the screen and you can de-register it right there. You won't lose any of your books or apps. Just register the new FIRE to your existing account and you will be able to re-download all your books and apps from the Cloud. Peace & Love to you and Gevalia!!

Joanne

JannE says:
not preregistered. had to register it as a new device. started downloading and most of them have a ! on the bottom and I click on the ! and it says: you have exceeded the limit on the number of devices that can read this item. you may deregister any device no longer in use and delete the contents, which will allow you to download this item. So how do I delete my other Fire and its contents without deleting all my library? I am so frustrated with this............................................

JannE says:
it is because the left incision is not healed. the right side staples come out tomorrow. there is a mesh tube going from one side of my groin to the other. The left incision had a big ball of fluid on one end and he had to open it (take out a few stitches) that is when he put on the wound vac, to vac all the fluid out that was being generated. He took the machine off last week but kept the mountain of 4x4s, they drained bad, then stopped draining so much. now there is a wick in the hole and one 4x4. Every day the hole gets smaller and the amount of liquid is diminishing. He said one day that if there is an infection inside the mesh, there is not antibiotic in the world that can help. It would go into my blood stream and that would be the end. I will stay.

JannnE- That is so crazy!!! No wonder health care is so freaking expensive! I applaud your doctor for taking such good care of you, but all of this seems really bizarre. I certainly don't know all of the details of what you've been gone through, but I know you must be at your wits end by now. Hopefully you will be 100% before to much longer!

JannE says:
and it gets more stupid every time I talk to someone. the heart do ctor iwill not let me go home. What the deal is: medicare pays 100% for 20 days in this unit. They have a meeting every Tuesday to see about medicare patients days and care. You can't stay in this unit if you are not 'skilled', meaning this is a skilled nurses care unit and the skills that have to be used stay here are on a list or something. This is why I am bedbound/bathroom privileges because anyone can change a dressing. So they added wick to my wound and heavy duty antibiotics to the IV last week to keep me here under medicare rules. When the medicare lady called my doc and told him I have to be discharged tomorrow or with the 48 hour notice thing thIey give you, Friday. Doc said: my patient is going no where until it is safe for her to do so.

copy and pasted from my FB post. maybe clear things up, and if it does, post and let me know so I can clear things up to me.

ohohoh get this, tomorrow I leave this unit, I have to re-admit into the hospital to the acute care unit, where medicare kicks in once again at 100%. The nurses told me that my doc is actually shuffling me around to save me $$$ because he wants me 100%. I am grateful for that. I am going to appeal to him to at least let me get off the bed and exercise. and the new unit is private rooms only.

JannE-What a deep disappointment for you! I'm so sorry. Does the dr. have an expected date to release you? Is it because you're not fully healed? Surely the dr. would release you if he thought you were ready, especially considering the Medicare situation! With any luck maybe the 2 days will make a difference. Hang in there my dear. Continuing prayers are going out to you. P&L and Gevaliia!!!

It is probably preregistered. Establish a wifi connection. Tap the gear, then more, then "My account". If not registered, register here. All of your titles and apps from Amazon will show up on the Carousel as well as the book shelves under the "Cloud" tab in books and apps. Just tap anything with a down arrow to download. May take awhile to populate your new Fire. Heck, you should be able to do this in your sleep by now! Also remember what Amazon told you to do with your dead Fire. Turn off the wifi! LOL!

Hugs to you my dear! {{{{{{{JannE}}}}}}}}!!!!!!!!! Freakin system! Be well and don't get depressed over it!(I know you won't but I said it anyway). I'm a little confused. Medicare will pay for 2 more days so I'm not sure what doc's orders were. I thought he was the one who decided you could come home. Apparently he wants you to stay longer. Am I reading this correctly and if so, how much longer does he want you there? I know you had said he would not release you until fully healed. Is that where they disagree? I'm sorry!

At the meeting (will explain later, has to do with medicare patients), the doc discussed discharging me tomorrow. I haven't seen him yet but the medicare lady told me. I am packed and ready! LOL

Now I am in tears. The medicare lady called the doc to tell him what was decided. (basically, medicare pays 100% for 20 days in this unit, which is up today. then it goes to co-pay) my doc said NO. she told him about this 48 hour notice thing medicare gives the patient, which expends the 100% for two days. He said NO.

I have to make the best of this. Right now I am extremely upset (this will pass).

Gevalia!!!!

JannE! Gevalia my dear! That is wonderful news! I hope you get sprung today. May I assume that at first you will be going to your daugthter's house or will you be heading straight home to the comfort of your new A/C. Home is usually preferred but I don't know the logistics of your Dr. for follow up, etc. I just mailed my card yesterday after carrying it around in my car for days without a stamp. Perhaps they will be kind enough to forward it for you. I am happy your a fast healer and are strong enough to have warded off infection while living in that petri dish that all hospitals deal with. God bless you JannE. Great coffee is in your near future! Glenn
