My Kindle Fire is "freezing" up

Glenn: You can try resetting your browser. Tap the gear, then more, then applications, then all applications. Scroll down and find the large Amazon "A" with the word browser next to it. Tap on it and then if it is running tap "Force Stop". Ignore any warning messages. Then clear cache and clear data. Once again, ignore any warning messages. K. The only other thing I can recommend is a full device reset. If you have a lot of personal data on your device such as pictures, docs., etc. it will be lost. If this us the case, connect your Fire to your PC. You'll need a usb to micro usb cable. If you have an eink model Kindle you can use its cable. Connect and then swipe the start screen in the Fire. It will show up in "my computer" as an external drive. Open the Fire and copy the folders needed to a new folder on your PC. Tap deisconnect on Fire screen then
disconnect. Tap the gear, then more than device. Tap "reset to factory defaults". After the device finishes the reset you can again connect to your PC and copy the data back to the matching folders on your Fire. All of your purchased apps and books will be under the "cloud" tabs on your Fire. Glenn

Hopefully you either did, or if not, that you didn't have a lot of personal data to restore. In the future, you may want to perform routine back ups of your personal data such as pictures, music, docs., etc.. You can also download an app called "Backup Master" which is available from This app lets you quickly and easily create backups of your browser bookmarks which can be easily restored to your device after a reset. You may also want to remember to perform a "hard boot" on a routine basis. This is akin to rebooting your PC. As you know if your a Windows user, your PC will unexpectedly freeze or lock up without warning, requiring you to reboot. Apps running on the Android platform like your Fire will leave bits and pieces in the OS memory on your device. After time, these bits take up too much space, crowding the OS, which will result in screen lockup or freezing. I gave instructions on this procedure to you in my earlier posts. Remember reboot and backup your Fire regularly as you would and should on your PC. Glad your back in the game and get back to enjoying your device. Thanks for sharing your outcome with others. Glenn
