i play games on my kindle and i don't find anything wrong with it. whose to say that the e-ink kindles are only meant for reading. yes, they are e-readers and used primarily for that but it can also be much more than that. there is experimental web which i'm sure some use (i never do). i love the games, in mostly have games and puzzles that require excercising my mind. games like cryptograms, sudoku (both regular and jigsaw), kenken, hamster habitat, shuffled row and others. but i also enjoy some more relaxed games like solitaire, battleship, yahtzee, and canasta. great ways to take breaks from reading

I have a Touch and KK and have the free word games on them which I like and occassionally play. My 6 year old grandson, who has access to both Iphone and IPad and the many many games on them is self professed "addicted to Dots and Boxes" and loves playing it against "Kindle" when he comes over. I like that the eink games are mostly word type games and find them a nice diversion.

Mostly agree - My Kindle is for reading (which is part of the reason I will stick to the e-ink Kindles myself) -- but I do play Scrabble for a quick break quite often.

A friend of mine asked me if a Kindle would make him look "cool". I assured him it wasn't. "It's just for reading and it's best for reading books.' A month later he said, "You lied to me. I just found out I can play games on a Kindle."

Right. And pretend he reads.

As when your waiting at the airport you have something to do... don't have to bring everything else out...

Yes. A nice break from reading with no TV on the boat.

My phone is a very basic model (inexpensive and turned off most of the time), my iPod is a shuffle without a screen, and I don't have a tablet, PDA, or any other electronic gadget I carry around other than my Kindle. So yes, I play the games on them. I don't see the issue. Sometimes you want to read. Sometimes you want to play games.

I play games on my K2. I have an ipod that has some games on it, but it doesn't have card games or word games that I like to play. I usually just listen to music on it. I don't have an iphone, ipad, or ipod touch, so the Kindle is the only thing I have with me that I can play these games on. Those games come in handy for short breaks at work.

I'm addicted to EA Solitaire. I usually play a game or two in between chapters or right before I start reading my books.

No. I play games on my iPhone. The Kindle is for reading - I think of it exactly the way I think of a book. Or 500 books.

I only read on my kindle. My iphone is for games. But then again I don't travel everywhere with my kindle. I read on my iphone in lines and dr office too but I just use the Kindle as an e-reader.

I haven't gotten my Kindle yet (it's a Christmas gift) but I don't think I'll play many games on it. Mainly because I have a Nintendo DS, and have plenty of games for that that I can play for short periods of time.

Also, I'm not too fond of, or good at, card games or word games, and those seem to be the majority of games available for the Kindle.

@Frannie - totally agree with your post (I, too, need all the help I can get). Thanks for posting the Word Search games link - I will go see what's there.

I come from a family who has always been big on Scrabble and crosswords so word games have always been a part of my life, we have serious Scrabble tournaments (we play for money). I love anagrams and that's why I like Scrabble, Shuffled Row, and Every Word. I used to carry a printed crossword/word puzzle game book everywhere I went, now I can just pack my Kindle. Word games stimulate the brain and over the years I have increased my vocabulary and learned a lot from word puzzles/crosswords. I think they have probably even improved my reading skills if that makes sense. I'll do anything that can improve my brain power. At my age I need all the help I can get. lol

And there are Word Search games for the Kindle...

I loved how, with the Kindle, I started reading a lot more books. So at first I worried about adding games to the Kindle, wondering whether it would disrupt that relaxing feeling I was getting from the books.

Maybe that's why "Shuffled Row" is such a popular game -- it's all letters and word-making, almost like it's one step away from reading. It's like messing around with the letters backstage, before they've come together to form the sentences in ebooks!

I also downloaded "Word Morph" and can't make it work. I really wish some who has made it work would tell us how to go about it.

The only other electronic gadget I carry with me is my cell phone, but it's just a pay-as-you-go phone for emergencies, nothing fancy with games, etc. I have no need for a tablet device.

I've downloaded four of the free Kindle games from Amazon and play three of them. I don't play them a lot, my Kindle is for reading obviously. But there are certain times when having the games on there is really nice. I'm the type of person who doesn't like to read unless I have 20 minutes or more to get really absorbed. So having a game available when I have short periods of time to kill is very handy.

Another time I sometimes play one of the games is when I'm reading on the Kindle and finish my book, but don't feel like plunging immediately into a new one. Playing a game sorta helps clear my mind between books. And since the Kindle is already in my hands, what could be more convenient?

I like playing games on my kindle when I'm between books, and am looking foward to them releasing wordsearch games. As no one noticed that these are games that tend to make you think.....
