The Kindle Fire HDX has just about all the great apps installed on it either from 1 Mobil or Mobogenie i want. MS Office is installed, one note, outlook, the list is endless. If you want to watch amazon streaming in canada find one of the free VPN available in the two app stores i site and you can stream Amazon prime all day and all night, nothing held back. Just do your work.

Yes the money I spent on Kindle and to think I just about clicked on 2 fires for my wife and I and got shafted. They are not very up front to Canadians on this matter of whats missing. We are treated like crap up here in Canada on Kindle and Amazon media. They tried the trick of forcing us to move to the abrivated Canadian Kindle store. Luckily with some digging I found a back door link to get back on US Kindle.
I am looking over the Kobo tablet now and reading the reviews. Kobo looks good for getting Google Play in Canada, which is the main item to have. No Google on an android tablet is like ipad with no itunes.

The site description mysteriously left out info about etc.! Will the Canadian Kindle Fire be able to do this too?

I want to thank the person who recommended downloading Aptoide to my KFHD and getting apps from there. Made a big difference in my enjoyment of the tablet!

I am a US citizen and have moved to Alberta, Canada in the last 2 years with no plans to move back to the States. I am considering purchasing a Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE, but I am concerned with the internet connectivity. I read in one article that the internet service is through ATT so if this is true then if you connected to the internet here in Canada would you not incur the normal fees that cell/smartphones do?
I want to know if I buy this Kindle, will I be able to get internet coverage from a provider here in Canada? I want to use it just like I do my Canadian cell phone through Telus. I won't always have a Wi-Fi connection.

A very delicate way of saying Canada is not an important market to Amazon which is all we have been saying. Every reason to buy one of the very capable alternatives now on the market.

I am sure the Amazon shareholders are doing quite well right now. Amazon is taking its time in expanding their market so they don't have to spend so much money at one time. I think the shareholders appreciate this as well.

Colin... apparently it's not just Canada that doesn't care about!

If 50 companies have the rights and Amazon doesn't then I think it is safe to assume Amazon doesn't care about the potential market outside of the USA. I would be pissed at this decision if I was a shareholder.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 28, 2013, 1:13:38 PM PDT
No need to throw a hissy on this. Amazon simply need to apply for the legal right to sell certain content here in Canada. A lawyer friend who specializes in this area said Amazon tried but did not like the Canadian content issues and backed off. Canada is simply not a big enough market for them to worry about. They have had the right to sell ebooks here for years but chose not to bring the latest readers to us based on nothing more than market size. Put simply, Amazon has in effect said Canada is not a market they are in any hurry to develop.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 28, 2013, 12:19:13 PM PDT
You really don't get it, do you? There might be 50 companies who have the rights to distribute content in Canada, but that has zero effect on Amazon's ability to do so. Until they have the LEGAL rights to sell/distribute content there, it makes no sense to sell the device there.

Just because you choose to believe something does not make it true.

If has shareholders I believe they would be furious about their lack of supporting the Fire outside the USA. They can't use the excuse of government roadblocks because all of their competitors are able to provide the features that the Fire purports to offer in the States.

It's too bad as it is a neat device...

if you're getting them from US sources, that's likely all you'll get - I can't even access the free US network sites of the BBC site (UK) outside of their respective countries

I would like to know a good app for watching movies on my Kindle fire. I am in the Caribbean and all movies on once loaded sends this message "this content can not be accessed due to geographical restrictions". Please do not let me regret my purchase.

Can I install a VPN on Kindle Fire being used in Canada or elsewhere in the world and then access programs such as Hulu?
