I put the volume to the maximum already. I might miss the incoming call If I did not pay attention on the screen. The volume works when I watch the amazon movie.

The problem is the ringtone/ringer for incoming calls on Skype for Kindle Fire HD is too low. All the system volumes are set to the max.

I figured this out yesterday as I couldn't hear any notifications (or the skyp incoming call). Go into general Fire settings, then click on Sounds and Display. Select Notification Sounds. When Notification Sounds is up, just adjust volume with the volume rocker on the top of the fire (physical buttons). Mine was set very low, so after I figured this out (by playing with it for a while), I am now able to hear notifications including Skype incoming call.

Hope this helps!

rslits says:
As suggested on another thread, you need to adjust the volume WHILE the notification sound is playing.

I find the master volume and notification sound volume different. From the home screen flick down from top to reveal the volume icon (master), then set required volume, trouble being I find that after ajustment your notification setting gets destroyed. So reset that by pressing "more" then "sounds & display then "notification sounds" then select any of the 12 options and increase volume physically with the out side volume buutons.

Hi,

My wife has a kindle fire hd 7 and i have a google nexus 7. Both devices had the same issue with no ringer when people called on skype.

For my nexus there is a specific 'notifications' volume - once this was pushed to the max, i get good ringer volume.

With the kindle, i follow instructions above and pumped up the volume whilst selecting the notification sound. This did increase it so you could just about hear it but it is still weak. even with the main volume at max too.

I don't get it - the volume should be louder - and why don't they use the normal skype ringer rather than an 'old phone' ringer?

Anyone from Skype or Amazon fancy answering us on this one?

Mark

They need to fix this problem, The ringer is not loud enough and I cannot change the type of ringer. Notification does not do any good in sound, has nothing to do with skype, master volume is at max, skype has no setting to fix this issue. please help Amazon.

This same thing happened to me. Since the update to SKYPE over the past two days, my volume in SKYPE has been lousy. It was fine before the update and I could adjust it while in SKYPE, but now the volume adjustment doesn't seem to work at all, but does work in other functions just fine. The volume in SKYPE is very soft now, but was fine in the earlier version.

Just to let you all know how I handled this. I chatted with SKYPE and they told me that, since I had the SKYPE for Kindle version, I should contact Amazon to fix the problem. They(Amazon) had me remove the SKYPE from my device and then reload SKYPE from the app store again. This fixed the problem and my volume in SKYPE now works.

Wow! Susan, that did the trick! I was sure that when I first tried Skype last month it was working fine, and this week I couldn't here anything. I did what you said, and now the volume is fine. Thank you!
