I lent a book from my Kindle to a friend on Jun3 13, 2013. She said it showed up on her Kindle. It has not returned. On my Kindle it still says "this book has been lent and you can't read it until it is returned". How can I regain access to my book?

Delete that notice just like you delete a book. Then download the book again from the cloud/archive in the Kindle.

Thank you! I got my book back! I couldn't delete the message that came up on the Kindle when I clicked on the book, but you had said "just like deleting a book" so I went back to the Home Page where the book was listed with (on loan) in front of it. I deleted the book with the "on loan" message attached using "delete from device" on the menu. Then I went to "manage your kindle" on, found the book and downloaded it again. It worked! I had tried downloading it before, but until I deleted the book with the "on loan" message attached, it wouldn't re-download. By the way though, it showed up in my collection "read", not on the home page, and at first I didn't realize it had come down to my Kindle. Anyway, Thanks again! Problem solved.
