I just bought a first generation Kindle Fire, and I know there isn't a camera, but id like to know what the thing in the top left-hand corner is, because it sure looks like a camera to me.

Vivian - It's a non-functioning ambient light sensor.

No need. How would you know if you didn't ask?

Vivian, there were some hysterically funny threads back when that Fire first came out. Hundreds and hundreds of the same, "Is this a camera?" "I see a lens!" "Where's the camera?" questions. Over and over.

People started teasing and saying, "Yeeeees. It's a SPY camera. If you put your eyeball up to it, you'll be *injected* with truth serum, and a drone will pick you up and take you to Gitmo."

Then people *believed* the first word: "Yes" and would reply to the "spy camera" posts with, "How do I turn it on?" and no, they weren't asking ironically.

well, if you keep your post here - it won't be seen. YOu will need to either do a different search of the forum or create a new thread.
