eBooks (purchased from Amazon) belong to the account and cannot be transferred. You can, however, have multiple devices and Kindle apps registered to the same account and thus have access to the same books (and movies, music, games, etc). So, if you each have Kindles and they are registered to separate accounts, you can either buy a couple of the cheapest Kindle eInk readers, and register one to each account and trade them, or you can register the kindle reading app to one another's accounts on another device (computer, tablet, smart phone, etc). If your Kindles are already on the same account, then he needs to just connect to WiFi and download as wanted from the Cloud book list on the Kindle.
