Windows 8 Kindle app problem

I have deregistered it and reinstalled the app but it still has these problems. My other 2 Kindle apps work fine.

When I am buying a book there is the toggle to determine where to send it .... I have the option for MoniKat's Windows 8 in my drop down. Do you have that option? Did you register your windows 8 app to the correct amazon account?

MarkoAlbury - That app (along with Kindle for PC and Kindle for Mac) don't have Send to Kindle email addresses. You can't use the Personal Documents Services on them. http://amazon.com/kindlepersonaldocuments

My app does not work. always reverts back to the metro will have to use the older version ont he desktop

Kelly, no. E-ink Kindle games only work on certain e-ink Kindles. Kindle Fire games require the Android operating system and only work on certain Android devices.

That would be great, since I'm finding all kinds of problems and limitations with Kindle Win8. It always freezes up when I switch from reading a book to going to the library and back, it won't do searches within books, I can't get the Kindle icon onto my tool bar, etc.

Do I have to uninstall Kindle for Windows 8 first?

You can have both the Windows 8 App plus the Kindle for PC program installed on the same Windows 8 computer. I already had the app installed and registered on my Surface Pro. I downloaded and installed the Kindle for PC program (the Win 7/XP version) and it successfully installed, registered and ran. In fact I ran both at the same time no problems. :)

If you are talking about the Win 8 version, it's a Metro app. They don't show up on the toolbar. To switch use the Windows logo key‌ +Tab. You can use that to go both ways.. from the desktop to the metro app/s, and from a metro app to the desktop. Whatever programs you have running on the desktop remain running so you can use this to freely switch back and forth.

Are there any work-arounds for the other functionalities offered in earlier Kindle for PC, but not in Kindle for Win8?

Update: I did indeed download the prior Kindle version, Kindle for PC, onto my new laptop running Windows 8. No problems at all registering it or getting it into action. It even has the feature for organizing books into collections, which was not available on the Kindle for PC version I had on my old laptop. The only thing I seem to have lost is the "Most Recent" sequence that was on that PC. I haven't figured out what the logic behind the current "Most Recent" sequence is, but it won't be a big problem in the long run.
