I got a free kindle because my old kindle wouldn't work and we couldn't figure out why. So the amazon people sent me a new one saying that I would be able to get all my books and everything off my old one, but i don't know how. Does anyone know how I would be able to do that??

Your new Kindle should come registered to your existing Amazon account. All the content you've purchased from that account will be available to download to the new Kindle.

ETA: One of the first documents that will d/l to you new Kindle will be called Transferring Your Kindle Content (or something similar). That will walk you through the process.

Try reading your users manual...if that is to much for you to do then please give the kindle to someone who doesn't mind reading the instructions before asking for help.

Turn on wireless and connect. You will need to set up your WiFi again on the new Kindle. Then go to the archive on the new Kindle and download your books from there.

I just gave my Kindle to a friend of mine and now I need to deregister it and register it in her name. Will this kindle loose the books that are already on it when I deregister it? For her to register it in her name is there anything else to do to be able to download books on it in her name??

I have just purchased the kindle touch from a store and need to manually register it. I had an older version so which I ordered online. It was so easy to register .. The touch is proving more difficult. I have read and followed instructions, the page opens and recognizes my name on the account but it is still saying unregistered and I have no idea how do get all the books transferred over. any advise would be appreciated as I'm eager to get into the new additions to me library.

Shannon, is your wireless turned on? Normally you need to connect wirelessly to finalize registration. You should then also see your books in the Cloud/Archive. Simply clicking them will start a download.

I can't find manage my account on the kindle screen. My old kindle froze so I haven't used kindle since March 2012 .. The format is very different to how I member it .. Can't find the cloud/archive ur mentioning. :(

Very disappointed. Even while using online chat with Khaja - he hung up on me. And the device is still not registered. Though he says it is registered on his side. This Kindle is buggy :(

Manage Your Account is not on the Kindle but on this website.
Upper Right of this screen -- "your Account" -- hover over that and find "Manage Your Kindle". Then look on the right side of the screen for "Manage Your Devices".

Hi thanks for that .. I had found a link that took me to "manage ur device" and was going to register my new kindle touch (old one was a kindle keyboard) via my PC but I can't find how to add a new device's serial number. The link told me I could use this page to modify my kindle devices? Is that correct or is the link old?
