What we can learn from our dogs....

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

-- When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

-- Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

-- Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

-- Take naps.

-- Stretch before rising.

-- Run, romp, and play daily.

-- Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

-- Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

-- On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

-- On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

-- When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

-- Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

-- Be loyal.

-- Never pretend to be something you're not.

-- If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

--When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

The Stolen Kingdom
A fantastic YA adventure! Fast-paced, fun, and great for all ages.
You'll ride with Taylor James and Robert of Roth as they attempt to defeat the evil Dark Duke. Along the way, you'll have to survive the dangers of Cheshire Woods, battle brutes and monsters, and overcome incredible odds.
This unique book will make you laugh and keep you on the edge of your seat. You'll never have more fun reading. If you like stories such as "The Princess Bride," King Arthur, or Lord of the Rings, you'll thoroughly enjoy this engaging tale.

I am in a foreign country with a 3G connection. Can I get books from Amazon for my Kindle Fire? When I asked the Amazon lady on the chat, she did not seem to understand what I was asking.

I don't have a kindle fire but it seems if you have 3G and can get to the kindle "store" on your Fire to shop for books you should have no problem.

The simple answer is yes ...... but you have not told us which Amazon site you and your Fire are registered to and if you have activated 1-click or not.

I suggest that you go to the following link and see if it helps - the video is very informative
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=help_search_1-2?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201240250&qid=1390648886&sr=1-2

I am sure that others will turn up with solutions for you too.
Enjoy your Kindle Fire and do come back here for a chat at any time

Thanks Susan,
Great start and the video is really worth watching!

Dogs and Turtle ( Helen), JoJo and GiGi....Thanks for sharing your first pet stories yesterday. It was amazing to me how many accounts involved an "ex"!!

It looks like we're getting snow all day and a little more tomorrow. It's too soon to start shoveling, but if it gets too deep then it's that much harder......it's very windy too. Sounds like a cuddle up and read day to me.

Hi Suze
I agree with you about stories with ex's - what I liked is that the pets got to stay with our posters :-)

I also agree it is very definitely a cuddle up and read day, no snow but really cold and blustery here

In keeping with Susan's theme for the day (and Suze's question of the day yesterday) I think that the following is appropriate

If Only I Could Talk: A Canine Adventure by Tony Lewis

Trapped in a house fire, Nelson is dying.
If only he could open the door ...

Nelson whimpers his final goodbye to Rascal, his canine soulmate, their paws almost touching through the heavy glass that separates them. Succumbing to the smoke, his life drifts slowly before him ...

Nelson was born deep in the French Alps, where his only worries were how snow could be both soft and hard and why it made the house sink. And whose turn it was to fetch the baguettes from the boulangerie.

So how could puppy love be so cruel? And how ever did he find himself lost and lonely in England?

His dogged wanderings eventually led him to David and his son Timothy, a young boy with autism. Life was once again full of joy.

Until now, trapped in the fire, Nelson's luck has surely deserted him. But he can't die yet! He has an amazing tale to tell - and an amazing tail to tell it with. And with Rascal there to help, Nelson has no choice but to survive.

From the Author
"A unique tale about a unique and adorable dog. A light-hearted and uplifting story written to appeal to readers aged ten, one hundred and ten ... and anywhere in between."

Good Morning/afternoon Suze and Irish Mist -

just back from grocery shopping.
29 degrees but feels like 19 with the wind.
It feels colder than that, I think it is the sound of the wind whistling.....
and snow on the way :)

Irish mist says:
Good afternoon redand white
wel.......I habe one word for him but I will move in......that mutt. muttley, OY
is part terrier, and something unspeakable and a monster!
He has a deformed nouth, often hops on 3 legd, (hip injury we all think car accident, vet does and no, we took him as they were GOING TO KULL HIM) He was well must not quite the perfect specimen you see!
He is stubborn, disobedient, abhores every animal on the planet which he believes is his very own, is very greedy (loves his biccy and it has taken sometime to stare meaningfully and say MANNERS and he accepts it and takes it very sweetly from my hand) he is very bad! He sits on my feet and picks up my hand for cuddle time (often!) He is a tart! He loves anybody but me until there is non-one and I will do. He is a coward and any trouble or pains (thorns etc) to sort out he comes and shoves his head under my knee and ensures I know there is something to check for him.
Oh, he is not daft, that one and he limps for sympathy - it gets ruined if a cat passes by and he roars after them! what a sham!
Oh, I could tell you stories about this one to have you rolling on the floor and everyone adores him except me! 3rd rescue, I have said last (bit of a row with sister re-this decision) but I am so much older, cannot chase them now, and I just cannot cope with the grief of loss, it just devastates me - and for so long. He is on his way, very old, and so damaged.......but we made sure he has been so well retired with us for we have a field for romping, people to be 2-faced with (shocker he is!) and 2-beds, lovely foods and tid-bits galore (and yes, I know but vet said after last visit we can now give him anything, I cried for days but just let him train me to treats and hubby feeds that greedy little pig his dinner though where he puts it all I do not know) He is not fat, obviously hollow legs, no worms, he is feted and courted and struts merrily. I don't suppose you are in the market for a monster? I shall do a Sheldon and pay you?
