H ello from hot and steamy Jakarta. I have just finished reading my first kindle book-great, but how do you get back to the beginning without scrolling back through all 100 pages?

Hello, from cold and snowy Colorado! Go to Menu > Go to... Beginning.

Dragi Raos says:
This holds for e-ink Kindles (K2 and later), but I suppose Fire behaves in similar fashion:

From home page, right click on the title and choose "Go to Beginning". From within the book, press Menu, choose "Go To", then "Beginning".

On Touch there is no right-click, so I think you tap and hold the title until the menu appears.

Edit: greetings from cold(ish) but sunny Zagreb, Croatia! :o))

I don't have an iPad, but I have an iPhone. I would think the Kindle app works the same way:

Tap in the middle of the page. Drag the slider button (at the bottom) to the left.

Or, tap middle, then tap the icon that looks like an open book at the bottom, then tap Cover or Beginning.

Just Peachy says:
That's not a hiccup, it's where the publisher has decided the "beginning" is not the cover.

Just Peachy says:
No.
Is this in all books?
Have you tried a reboot? (while kindle is not plugged to charger, hold power button for 20 seconds and let it restart)

When I am in the process of reading a book my kindle will just jump the the home page. It is very annoying. What can I do about it?

George - move you mouse near the top of the screen and a black menu bar will appear. Click the GoTo icon (which looks like an open book) and select "Beginning".

I have this issues from time to time on my Kindle Fire. I normally just go home (out of the book) and re-open it and it's fine.

Thank you very much for the instructions. It has helped me a lot. I kept pressing the previous button to go back to the begining. I've never had a kindle before, so this is my first one.

There is an orange bar with a button on the bottom of the page on the Kindle Fire. Slide the button to the left to return to the beginning.

Go to home on paper white. List of books will come up, press down on book you want to restart and it will show several options including "go to", search this book etc.

Tap the middle of the screen, then the 3 horizontal lines at the top left, then Library. That takes you to the Home screen of the app.

Edited for clarity.
