Try performing a hard reset on your Kindle Fire. Unplug the Fire from all power sources and then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds (count them slowly) and then release. Ignore any shutdown messages. After the device has completely turned off, press the power button to restart your Kindle Fire.

If that does not help, Use the large orange Contact Us button to the right to contact Amazon Kindle CS and talk with them about it - use the live chat or the call back feature if you can, not email. If you can't see a Contact Us button on this page, then go to https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/kindle-help.html and contact CS. I advise using Live Chat or the Call Me Back feature and not email, as they will have your account details available to them immediately when you talk with them.

Okay, I've been doing that. Is it normal for the kindle fire to highlight whatever you click on when on Silk?

Ok, I've had my Kindle Fire HD 7 inch for almost a year. Everything has worked perfect until just two days ago, when the strip of screen right underneath the camera stopped responding. Nothing, not even a hard reset, has worked. Should I call customer service or wait out an answer here?

Had my Kindle Fire for a year. The HD feature was working fine. Now when i watch HD movies and Tv Shows on Prime, it does not turn on when i press it. If it does turn on, the HD only lasts for a few seconds before it turns itself off. I do not know what to do. Any suggestions?. Thank you

I had a similar problem but was finally able to navigate to the "Mayday" feature. He fixed the problem right away and explained if the "screen reader" or "explore by touch" is turned on in the accessibility menu (they are usually activated in tandem), then there are special rules for operating the touch screen. Since I didn't know the rules or even realize that these options had been turned on, I couldn't get the screen to operate normally. You might want to check that out.
Good luck!

Thank You for this post, I went to the settings feature, then to the accessibility feature where I turned off the screen reader and it fixed my Kindle. My touch screen wasn't responding. I had to tap it several times near the clock just to get the quick settings to drop down. Now, it's back to working like new. Thank You.

Hey, My kindle fire screen seems to be broken. I took it out of my backpack at the end of school and when i pressed the power button nothing would show up, even when i plugged and unplugged it from a power source. When I hold the power button or press the volume button the sounds give me knowing that it is on, I have no clue why the screen won't turn on and yet the sounds works, there are no scratches. Please help.

Thanks for your post! I think the "Screen Reader" function may have been accidentally turned on with a two finger touch at start up. Your post helped fix the problem.

When trying to watch programmes on iPlayer I no longer get a full screen image
but only approx 2-3" the rest of the screen is blank. I have a Kindle fire hd tablet.
Everything else appears to be ok ie full screen on Google, ebooks etc.
Any ideas?

Unable to fix it , needs to be sent in to be repaired as decided it is faulty but is now out of warranty so probably won't bother
