I am using Kindle and would really really be able to talk to a Kindle live person!

I also subscribe to iBooks, and there I can sort my books into categories which I can set myself. In other words, I can organize my own library.

I think this is a definite drawback for Kindle.

Whom can I contact?

Click Help top of this page then the Contact Us button. You can have them call, do live chat or email.

Bufo Calvin says:
Irene, you can also always reach Kindle Support at

http://www.amazon.com/kindlesupport

I find that one easy to remember. :) I'm just a Kindle owner like you, but I've always found them friendly and helpful.

You can call them, send an e-mail, chat...or my favorite, have them call you. My phone rings in seconds and I am speaking with someone in under a minute.

Which Kindle do you have? Many of them have Collections, which sounds to me like what you are describing.

There are Collections on all the e-ink Kindles. Just not the Fires.

This comes in a can, too!

Heinz Spotted Dick Sponge Pudding, 9.4-Ounce Cans (Pack of 6)

Never tried it myself, though I did buy it as a gag gift (YBIK) last Christmas.

and don't hold your breath waiting on collections for the Kindle Fires = people have been asking for them since October 2011

I think I found an answer, but it may work only on my Kindle, not the iPad.

You put the words Dick and Sponge together, and I don't care who you are, that's funny.

R. D. Clark says:
Irene, iBooks can offer certain features because it is not a portable format; iBooks can only be used on iOS devices. There is no iBooks app for Android, or Windows, or for browsers. Heck, it just became available for the Mac OS last month!

Kindle apps are available for all those platforms and more. You can read Kindle book on an iPad, but you can't read an iBook on a Kindle. However, the features available on each platform's app seem to vary considerably. I don't know how much of the reason for this is marketing, and how much is due to the varying capabilities of the various operating systems, but I do know that even Amazon's own Android-based Kindle Fires don't support the Collections feature that is available on all current e-ink Kindles, as well as on Kindle for PC (not Windows 8).

There appears to be a price to be paid for the "read anywhere" feature of the Kindle system, and that price is that making the apps stable and functional may mean certain features can't be reliably implemented, because they rely on OS services that are different from one OS to another. At least, that's my take.

Personally, I use my PaperWhite as my primary reader, with Collections that I've been using since I got my first Kindle three years ago. I only download a few books at a time to my iPad, and don't really need to organize them because they get removed immediately after reading.

Now you tell me. The thing is, I don't so much mind getting deleted but I sure wish I could get one of those letters of explanation.

Ammy sends letters of explanation? Since when?

(and why haven't I gotten one -- or two -- or ten?)
