Kindle Fire Wi-Fi only???

Is the Kindle Fire Wi-Fi only? I'm in a no wi-fi location and have to have the 3 or
4G connection. I'm not a technology wizard and I don't know if the "Fire" is for me. I now have the Kindle w/keyboard & 3G and love it, but would love to have the "Fire" also. Just don't know if it will work with my limitations--no Wi-Fi.
Please help! Thanks, Shelia

As it says on the product page, the Fire is wi-fi only.

R. D. Clark says:
If you have a smartphone you may be able to use it to create a wifi hotspot -- or your provider may be able to sell you a mobile hotspot. The Fire could connect to either. However, you will of course have to pay for the data, which will be considerably slower than typical wifi speeds.

How do you get your internet? If you have high-speed internet, whether it's cable, DSL, or satellite, it's likely that a wifi router could be added to it.

The reason 3G is free on your K3 is because it's not possible to move very much data to or from it. The Fire on the other hand is an Internet-centric device, and will never have free 3G. It's designed to be connected to the Internet and exchanging data through it most of the time.

With a slow Internet connection, much of the Fire's usefulness is compromised. For reading, certainly, you're better off with the K3, IMO.

You're welcome. Just a little pet peeve though: you don't have to put Fire in quotation marks.

You are aware of the cost of ownership of a 3G tablet? You're looking at $300 or more plus $30 a month for 3G. You could go cheaper like $15 for a 250Mb a month plan, but that would be pointless on a tablet if you don't have WiFi access. Tablets with AT&T with the 250Mb plan are also more expensive - I don't know about the other carriers.

Only if it supports 4G.

The new Fire HDX's have a 4G option.

You can get a data plan for any tablet. If the tablet itself is WiFi only you can get a hot spot device from any of the carriers to use.

Tammy, you're replying to an old thread. There are now 4G versions that can work beyond the reach of WiFi.

Isn't there a statute of limitations for net nannying?

You'd think 3 years would do it, but evidently I am wrong.
