No. Which is it, a Paperwhite or the Basic Kindle?

Basic Kindle

Dennis, the Basic model doesn't have speakers, so there is no headphone jack.

The only e-ink Kindle still being sold new that has audio is the Kindle DX. The LCD Fires also have it.

Just Peachy says:
That would have been a Kindle Keyboard that had speakers and cost more than the one you just bought.

That was the Kindle Keyboard, like Pat said, or a Kindle Touch. The basic never had speakers or a headphone jack, which is one of the reasons it's always been the lowest priced of the e-ink Kindles.

ETA: If you want TTS, you'd have to go with either a Kindle DX or a Fire. But if you want to listen to audio books, an inexpensive MP3 play might be the way to go.

Jay says:
READ the product description page before buying a product. The only Kindles with audio capability now being marketed are the various Fires.

Bixillarla says:
Not true Erin. They are selling the DX again which is TTS capable.

Yes, although it's probably splitting hairs to say that they're being "sold off" rather than "marketed" :-)
