My Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is least than 1 year old and I didn't buy the protection plan when I purchased. Is it too late to buy the service plan? What other options do I have if something goes wrong with my Kindle?

If it is less than a year old, call Amazon, it is covered by a 1-year warranty. Well, unless the damage was caused by you, but even then, Amazon may be willing to help.

Thanks Less a! I followed the instructions to fix a frozen screen and it worked. But it's good to know I'm covered for the year.

To answer your original question, most companies require you to buy an extended protection plan within 30 days of your purchase.
